Ok, I'm lost. All these links and nothing that says the same stuff.

Where does my 78 Porsche 924 go?

Basic mods that change from stock:

cam, compression, suspension, brakes, weight-reduction...

Sounds like SM2 or EP, depending on how crazy you've gotten with the weight-reduction mods.

Jon, Welcome to SM2. :)

What puts me in SM2?

Ugh- I'm getting sick of these changes. Keep having to make new magnetic numbers... forget it this year. Blue/Black tape... It'll change again next year with the way the SCCA wind blows.

11 should be ez with the tape

SM2.... that'll take some talent, or time.

Actually, SM2 is the "slower" class of the two. (Not that SM2 is a slow class, by any means!) Before SM2, the cams & pistons would have sent you straight to Prepared.

Note: If your interior is Porsche Club Racing stripped, you're probably in Prepared anyway. SM2 allows you to remove the back seat, stereo, and a few other things. But it doesn't let you go wild with gutted interior, lexan & aluminum.

Jon, your seeing the glass half empty. Your still in EP where you were before. You now have another choice...SM2. You get to choose.

Jon,

If you haven't put the Lexan back hatch in, don't. That way you aren't forced into Prepared. On the other hand, You've been playing in Prepared for years, why change now?

I just want to know if I have to buy a new set of magnetic sheets with numbers on them.

I then may just stick with the rear back window... I dunno. I'll think about it. I do like the idea of weight reduction on the back-- and it's more about fun then it is about what class I can be in when I put something on (or take off) my car...

Jon,

The Sports Car Communists of American will frown on these type of decisions to
maximizing fun. :)
