By all accounts, the VTR autocross last Thursday was a success. I want to thank MAC as a whole and individual members who helped.
Special thanks to Mike Davis for timing and Jon McCullough for coming a day early to work on registration.
The day was somewhat of a blur for me. I did get a good laugh when the whole crew gave me a classic pylon-dance crossed-arms salute after I drove around a gate to save the worker from chasing the cone I was destined to hit. I survived the DNF, coming back in my last run with a time fast enough to protect my second place in class.
My memory is fuzzy, so if you were there, and are not listed here, don't be shy, speak right up!
Josh Berman came out and worked the event.
Chris Bienert drove up from Iowa for the day. That's dedication!
Mike Davis timed the whole event after being there early to set up.
Bob Fogt was there early to set up, then tested the course (I was prevented by VTR rules from pre-driving), then worked as starter-spotter.
Jim Larson worked as starter-spotter.
Lois Larson worked as starter-spotter.
Jon McCullough came a day early to load registration info into the computer, saving us lots of time on the day.
Dwight McCullough worked the whole event and towed the MAC trailer away at the end, so I didn't need to deal with it on Saturday.
Dennis Meyer is COM member and a member of Minnesota Triumphs, and used to be a member of the ancestor club of MAC. Denny worked the course both during competition runs and fun runs.
Jerry Schroeder worked the whole event and did fun runs.
Rex Schultrich was there early to set up, worked the whole event and stayed for fun runs.
Paul Weidner was a conventioneer with the Marcos, taking the "Other British" class and finishing 4th overall, working the event and taking fun runs in the new Mini. I rediscovered the meaning of power understeer with the supercharger on a wet course.
Chong Yang worked the event, then attacked the course with zeal in the fun runs.
The dedication to the sport of these folks and others left me free to put out fires, announce, make my runs, and still have time to wear that hat. Thanks again to you all. I only regret that the Weather Steward was not able to arrange for the rain to hold off until after fun runs.
