Or, will some opt for the street tire index class?:zzz

Looks like a couple Fast and Furious classes! :flame:

At some point this season I will end up with a C or E stock Miata! I hope.:)

Chuck beat me to Randy's Miata.:(

Still trying to decide where me and the '14 will fit best. Gotta get my hands on the new rules... The car has adjustable coil overs on the back, and a non-stock seat, so no stock class unless I de-evolve the car back to stock. It'll have bigger torsion bars in front this spring also... Maybe CSP? But it still has the Falken tires, so the serious guys like Harry and his Hoosiers will have an edge. SM-2? I would like to mess with the motor more, but thats a couple seasons down the road. ($$$) Index street tire? Maybe. EP with John and his mutant 924? Who knows. It fit best in SC-1, but progress is progress, and time marches on...

Randy just bought an EVO, so he'll be playing in A-Stock.

I'm in CS.

Dave,
Watch the evolution of sts2. You might have a future nationals car on your hands assuming your 914 is a 1.7L. I don't know if MAC will recognize it though as we still have more classes than is really necessary. SCCA really needs to find a solution for significantly reducing the number of classes.

Hey Chris- I saw that on sts2 and had the same thoughts... the car started out as a 1.7, but is now a 2.0. I had thoughts in the next year or 2, once the suspension is sorted to my satisfaction, of adding a turbo and getting into sm2, but if sts2 comes around, I do have a couple of old long blocks gathering dust that could be built back to a ripping 1.7... Have to wait and see what comes, how the rules read, and decide if I want to build it to the rules or just build the car I want to own, if they end up being 2 different things. Progress is progress, and time marches on...

With my 'B' I have several choices.
H stock, FSP, or EP.
However to be stock, I have to go back to 5" wide rims.
With FSP, I have to de-mod the engine.
Naaah!
I'll play in EP.

hi guys,
i'll be starting with street tires, though I may still hopelessly chase the race tire guys. This will happen only due to Josh volunteering to help me change shocks and bushings in a few weeks- how cool is he for doing that?!

i recall that the pax for C and E are getting pretty close so maybe we should chase all together in C class?!

i'm disappointed, i thought Randy had an interesting fun/rare type of Porsche to run in E stock, but i'm happy he be putting the smack down in the Evo. Is that the red one I saw at the Blaine kart parking lot? although with randy, it might be the Porsche for 3 events, an Evo for 3 and the new Miata turbo for the last 3.

CS Miata on street tires (Azenis). I hate PAX and the Azenis are new, so the choice is clear. Not that R rubber would help me drive that stupid little girly car any faster. Now, when my Corvair is finished . . .

You guys better watchout for Alex this year if he get R-Compound.

He really improved a ton at Pro-Kart and I think he will carry that over.

Chuck,
If it were possible to combine C and E stock w/o messing with PAX, I'd vote for it in a heartbeat. The combined class would be big and very tough.

It would be nice to watch/help with that bushing changing operation. I've done the miata shocks/springs a number of times and got a good swaybar education this winter (there's more to doing it right than just unbolting and rebolting). The techniques for changing out the bushings still hold some mystery for me.

Chris,

Here is a link to a bunch of picture for changing suspension bushings on
a MR2. It doesn't look like fun to me, and my brother said it was not a
lot of fun on his Datsun, but the car feels completely different.

I just changed out the bushings on the front of my -7. Not quite a fun job, but not too bad once I got the old bushings off the control arms.

The back is a whole 'nother thing. It requires major disassembly. It's not good when Step 2 and step 3 are remove the drive shaft; remove the axles. It winds up with loosening the bolts to the rear sub-frame to get the cambolts out.

Main thing to remember is this: don't torque the bushing bolts until the suspension is bearing the weight of the car. This applies both front and rear. Good Luck!

Chris,
when I coordinate a weekend to work on this with Josh, I'll let you know. BTW, the bushings are stupid expensive- $500 for 22 pieces of rubber. Someone needs to explain how they can be twice the cost of the shocks. Seems to me I need to get into the rubber molding industry.
Having new bushings installed will be great- I just wish I could have had a chance to drive it to see how much a difference it makes. Hopefully it's more than just psychological! Josh said his felt tighter after.

Sign up at www.mazdamotorsports.com (http://www.mazdamotorsports.com). They give you a huge discount on just about everything. They only charge $290 for a full set of control arm bushings.

Thanks Chuck. And yea, Mazda Motorsports is a great thing. Mazda seems to like it's grassroots racers.
