If an adult showed up with a 5hp Briggs powered gokart, would there be a class for them to play or would they not be allowed to enter the kart for policy/insurance/safety/procedural reasons?

What about a child?

Our insurance is for automobiles only, except for grown up Go-Karts like Keith B's

It specifically excludes go-karts, last year at midway we had to tell someone they couldn't run a kart that they brought along with their AX car.
All drivers must have a drivers license, if under 18 a special release must be signed by the parent/guardian. Can 5 year olds get licenses? Maybe in Iowa where they have to help with the farming --- right Chris

We had an event master who also runs a shifter kart.
We allowed him to run it in an exhibition at the noon break.
Come to the meeting and we'll discuss it.

Dwight,

The 2004 Met Council Rules specifically exclude karts. Unless an event layout includes a special staging/grid area for karts, I would not be in favor of allowing them at any MAC events.

No worries. The kart was cheap, but I've resisted the temptation. Whew!

Put on a roll bar and fit a seat belt.

I haven't read the rules LATELY but unless there was a change, MINIMUM WHEELBASE would prevent a kart from running...It's a lot tougher to solve that one than bolting on a roll bar.

OK, don't get excited. We could run the car [cart] as an exhibition.
Not in exhibition.

A-modified has a minimum wheelbase of 72 inches.

A-modified also has a minimum weight of 750 pounds, I believe.

I was mostly kidding, although any car meeting Met Council safety regs could probably run for time in "X".

BTW, are you going to run your car in F-modified as a Solo Vee?

Well Phil, I'm not really sure yet. Before the season starts, I'll have to read the "new" rules and decide. But it REALLY doesn't matter for me. It's rare that enough Mod. cars show up to have ANY classes, so I just come to have fun.
