Farting VW

I have noticed that my '91 VW GTI 8V misses from time to time. I have changed the cap, plugs, and fuel filter. The last thing I can think of is the wires.

It seems to do it every third time I do it, not matter what the duration is in which I drive it and was wondering if anyone has any ideas? Could it be injectors the the wires, or something else? Let me know, because the car is slow enough when it is running fine.

If you haven't changed the wires in a while, do it now. The problem will be really bad when the weather is damp (rain or snow).

wetness doesn't seem to effect it. Otherwise I would have spent the $60 bucks and bought the plug wires, but I might be doing it soon anyway.

I had an'84 VW GTI that did the same thing. I know it's a lot older but same syptoms. It ended up being the fuel pump. Good luck.:)

Heck, just steal the whole car. If youre rich, go with BOSCH wires from the dealer or do what I do, and order the 8mm plug wires from New Dimensions in CA for 59.99 or I heard Chad Erickson at SCI in Mpls can make you a set of wires (price?) 612-722-8897

I picked up some plug wires at Autozone yesterday. Bosch for ($59.99)
They seem to be doing the trick, but I will know more after the next couple of
times I drive it. Thanks for all of the help. Hopefully this is it, because I'm not looking forward to changing the fuel pump.
