So Phil asked me what class I'd enter this year but it seems that for the Mod cars, there are no classification rules posted....or did I miss them??? It doesn"t REALLY matter since I rarely have a class anyway, but I thought it may make signing up a little smoother if I know what class I'm in instead of asking. Any help, you experts?

:(

Sure we have Modified rules - more of them than we did before, in fact! It's just that Jerry Mouton's online site doesn't include all the SCCA info for Prepared & Modified. We'll be supporting the full set of SCCA Modified classes (A, B, C, D, E & F). We have SCCA rulebooks for sale, if you want one. They'll be available at all events for $20.

If you have specific questions, we can try to help you online.

That was really my point. I can't find out until I BUY a rule book at the first event OR ask someone at the first event, waste time doing that and the car still won't be marked properly. So, for whoever's selling them I'll take 1 but it won't be in time. (And BTW, my first event will be Valley Fair.)

Dennis,

Just tell us what car you'll be driving, and what the mods are. We can likely get you pointed to the correct class.

p.s. Here's an overview of the SCCA Mod classes. "Street" cars would fall under D or E. B, C & F are cars built for specific road racing series. A is pretty much unlimited.

Modified Class A
Cars with a minimum weight of 700 lbs., and a minimum 72 in. wheelbase,
plus Formula SAE.

Modified Class B
SCCA Club Racing-legal Formula Cars or Sports Racers. Minimum wheelbase of 80 inches.

Modified Class C
SCCA Club Racing-legal SR, SRF, FF1600, S2000 cars.

Modified Class D
Production and GT cars with engine displacement 2000cc and under.

Modified Class E
Production and GT cars with engines over 2000 cc.

Modified Class F
SCCA Club Racing-legal Formula 500, F440, FV cars.

Lets see..which car will I be driving....maybe the one I've been using for the last 15 years...the yellow FV. So, I'll be signing up as F-MOD. as a SOLO V. Thanks.

Dennis,

I can send you a complete copy of the Mod rules if you want. Drop me an e-mail at sjones@lakeheadconstructors.com. I can fax or mail them today. Let me know.

I am having the same problem.

I'm looking at BS, ASP, and SM2; but then I was thinking well what class would I be in for Prepared. The MR2 board didn't have an answer for me. So where would my Gen2 MR2 Turbo land.

A Prepared - However, it's not really a very good place for your car to play, unless you plan to radically strip & prep it as a dedicated track/autox car.

SM2 looks like a great place for you to play this year - at least locally. It sounds like there will be a good mix of competitors in the class, and you have quite a bit of flexibility with engine & suspension mods.

A Prepared

I'm not worried about classes since that is not my thing. I just want it to be fun and want to use all of the parts I have sitting around, and with 2 drivers it would be
nice to run in different run groups.

One thing to keep in mind - any given car can only run in one class. The only exceptions to this rule are SI & X. So if you had two drivers, but wanted to run in different classes, one could run in SM2/AP/whatever, and one could run in X.
