Are you guys from the Cities going to pass through Rochester on your way to Waterloo? Maybe we can caravan ... that way I might not get completely lost on my way to an event out here for once :dancin:
Anyhow, my Mini should have 1k miles on it by Sunday :dancin:

Roger,
I'm not sure about anyone else, but I'll be coming down through Rochester. I'll be there by about 7:00 AM.

p.s. Alex, you still want to co-drive?

Yep!
Rochester is a little bit out of the way for me, but if someone wants to pick an easy to find spot to meet up, I won't mind driving there.

I'm still trying to figure the "area" out, but it looked like Rochester was like right on the way from the Cities to Waterloo... I figured you'd take 52 South to 63? Are you taking I35 or somethng Alex?
Steve, 7am shouldn't be much of a problem for me ;) Maybe I'll pass you my cellphone number and we can do a "meet on the fly" or something, you wouldn't even need to stop.

The easiest place to meet will be at the intersection of 52 and 63. If I remember correctly, there are a couple gas stations right at the intersection. Email me your cell phone number, just to be safe.

My original plan was to use I35, but it looks like using 52 and 63 might be almost as fast.
I like Steve's suggestion about meeting at the intersection of 52 and 63, so if you could pick a specific location I'll be there at 7:00.

52 is all ripped up in Rochester so it might be best to meet at the
Gas Station in Marion right after the 52 to I-90 connection next
to the Salvage yard.
That would also be a good place to meet up with Adam if he makes the
trip.

Steven,
Isn't that out of the way? I normally turn South on Hwy 63, well before the Hwy 52/ I90 interchange. Or did you mean the Hwy 63 / I90 interchange?

D'oh, I was thinking of another Iowa town. I can't even remember its name now.
If you are turning south on 63. I would say meet at Fleet Farm or the Gas Station/Truck Stop across 63.

Steve G - I think I pm'ed you my cell phone number. Well, I tried to at least.
I think meeting at some gas station is the best. That will give me a quick chance to unload any coffee I may have "loaded" as well as purchase anything that I forgot to bring ;)
And 52 sucks in Rochester right now, but it's only a few miles, I guess.

OK, the Gas Station/Truck Stop at the 52 / 63 intersection at 7:00 AM. If there's more than one gas station, it shouldn't be too hard to find a Mini, Miata or Suby with stickers all over it! ;)

There's only one truck stop in the vicinity -- it's on the east side of the highway. However, Fleet Farm which is on the west side has a gas station.

I think it's safe to say a good time was had by the proverbial "all". It probably had special meaning to Chris B although he may not know it now - it was his last autocross as a free man. Oh, did I say that? I mean, "poor suffering single man" for all the wives reading this :D
This was my favorite course so far this year, since it was really fast like Valley Fair, only not so tricky like Valley Fair :p Also, I love those "transition and slalom with not much else" type of courses like this one. It reminded me a lot of an event back in MI that I loved so much - only better, since this was concrete and back in MI it was an asphalt runway.
I drove the mini. :dancin: It is cool. But it needs stickier tires in a big way. As Steve G suggested to me, I will (plan to) do every Waterloo event this year.

Tyre suggestion,
I've had good luck with both Goodyear F1 Eagle GSD3 and Dunlop SP9000 tyres (you drive British, you call them tyres). Look me up for a drive in my MINI during buck runs at the next event if you want to check out the Dunlops

Paul,
Roger already has a new set of Victoracers, just waiting for wheels. So it will be a battle of horsepower vs. tires for Mini bragging rights!;)

So does Roger have a regular or S model?
Regular might be better at Midway, but the brute HP :p of the S should prevail at Waterloo.

It's a regular Cooper.
I can't wait to run the stickies on it, it should be a whole different car.

A regular cooper with stickies should be a competitive HS car, if the national results are to be believed.

National results don't account for driving like mine, though :cone: :cone: :cone: ;)

Results have been posted.

I'm definitely happy with my performance. I was 12th fastest overall, and of the cars faster than me, two were Karts and five were Lotus 7 clones. Not bad for a novice like me. :D
