SCCA-LOL is helping the Chippewa Valley Sports Car Club host an autox. Event date is sunday the 27th, 9am, but I'd get there early, but thats just me. A short drive for you folks from Mini-soda, just head east on 94 to the first Eau Claire exit. The lot is bigger than midway, but no St Cloud. Pavement is rough but not horrible. I expect the SCCALOL site will have more info. For those not afraid to drive some more, an hour north of the event site is Rice Lake, home of 914 Dave. There could be cool drinks and a hot grill if there is interest, and some more senic routes back to MN than HWY 94. ;)

Thanks for the kind invite. I must respectfully decline. Sue, TR44SUE, and I will be at the Minnesota Triumphs Summer Picnic. Lots of same sort of hot grill action and a lot full of classic Triumphs

Dave,

Do you know what lot they're planning to use for the event? The Menards lot they used last year was pretty limiting.

-Steve

p.s. Chances are, I'll be in Milwaukee that weekend.

Phil- to bad, it'd be fun to see the looks on some of the ricer boys to see the lotus crackle into the lot... its usually a smaller draw, so a lot full of cars will be a "triumph" for them as well ;)

Steve- so far as I know, same lot. Not the best of lots, but for me, this is as close to home as an event will ever be. If you have the time, $$$, and approval from Mrs You for a trip to the "big league", you'd be silly to pass that up for this one. I'll find a way to take care of your brat and barley pop in your absence... ;)

For the rest of the club- C'mon over to cheese land and melt some tires. There are a fair number of "fast and furious" types that came out last year, it was fun to HEAR them going around the track all gas, brakes, screaming tires and wastegates- WhhoooSSShhh Then seeing the looks on their faces when a 20yr old, 95 hp, air cooled relic got the job done better. :D

autocross = cool

I was planning to go to Milwaukee, but knowing how lazy I am, it's nice to know that if I can't wake up in time to drive to Milwaukee, I can still make it to Eau Claire :dancin: well, provided I don't sleep TOO late :zzz

I'd suggest going to Eau Claire and looking things over before you enter. The lot has some limitations. According the the LaCrosse newsletter (Der Auspuffer) Richard is NOT the EM this year. This may mean a course that gives you choice of line rather than a series of double pylon gates.

If you do run, and Mr Parsons is true to his word about a hot grill and cold drinks, there should be plenty of time. EauClaire is usually done by 3 PM. No fun runs, not many timed runs either.

So far as I know, Eau Claire is a GO, but I am not.

I have to take off this week on thur for 3 wks on the road, and will not return till 4th of july weekend, so I will be missing allright and Eau Claire. For those who go to E.C., have a blast, represent MAC well, and I guess the brats, suds, and finding the real backroads of my neighborhood will have to wait...

Me too, want to caravan?

Last year we met in the parking lot of the Burger King on Suburban in St Paul (south frontage road of 94 between the White Bear and Ruth Street exits). Of course this means two bad rep drivers caravanning again...

I live about 5 miles away from the site, you can count on seeing me there. Not sure yet what I'll be driving, but I'll be driving something. Anyone know what the entry fee is?

Two choices this w/e --- I'm thinking St Cloud with the 'Vettes would be lots more fun...
Either Sat or Sunday (best weather day).
What'dya think?
If we do St Cloud we could meet at Menards again, but a little later, maybe 7:00

Hmm Paul can you give me a better feel for where this BK is......:(

weidnerpaul

Directions to Burger King:
Take HWY 94 thru the Twin Cities (Minneapolis & St Paul) ( or hook up with it) and go east of downtown St Paul on HWY 94. There is an exit for White Bear Avenue TAKE IT!!!

Turn right on White Bear Avenue and go 1 short block to Suburban (it's like the south frontage road) and turn left on Suburban, the BK is on the right almost all the way up the hill.

Directions to the AX site:

The site is
4777 Menard Drive
Eau Claire WI

Take 94 almost all the way to Eau Claire, get off on Hwy 12 east then go north (left) on
N Town Hall road, right(east) on Old mill Pl, left(North) on Mill Run Rd then right(east) on Menard Drive and YOU'RE THERE!!!

I gave the address in case anyone wants to use mapquest...

I'm stuck in Weatherford TX. Its raining. I gotta go out and see 6 people today. You guys are going to play in my backyard. :(

Have fun!!! Maybe next year we can do the suds and grill at my place following the event.

Paul, PS, and the rest. Hope you had a good day autocrossing. Rick and I stopped there but after looking over the setup, decided that we would not waste our $30 on the event.

We talked with one of the Chippewa Valley Club folks that Rick knows. The question of double gating came up. Apparently it is to keep speeds down. From what we saw it
certainly did that. It's a pretty safe bet that we won't be back there.

I hope that future events will allow drivers a bit more freedom of thought in selecting how they approach corners. The course certainly would have been safe with out 12' wide gates every 50 feet or so.

One dry, four wet runs...
Rex,
The course flowed much better than last years layouts, they kept further away from the kerb where it sticks into the lot and the second half was much faster as well(took out a "kink". It was worth the $20 for me (SCCA members pay $20), I won my class --- ASP(Marcos) against a Viper no less. Sometimes the wet helps :D :D

Did any MAC members go to St Cloud, if so did it rain and how was it?

Dave,
There was a 914 there, funny green color & it must have had slow time of the day --- it was driven by a "little old lady" and more power to her for trying...
I thought of stopping by Rice Lake & demanding beer/brats at the Parson homestead but decided it wasn't a good idea however next year I'm holding you to your promise.

Paul

Bummed I missed it. There was a nice "little old lady" there last year, who had owned a 914 in her earlier days, sold it, bought another one, but was not sure it was ready for the event last season. I wish I could have been there to see her car and help her out w/914 related stuff...

As far as the B&B, (beer and brats, not bed and breakfast) so long as the weather co-operates, I'm SO up for some R&R after next years E.C. event.

Cool that you won you class! Which car is coming to Road America?

Dave,

Which car is coming to Road America?

If you will switch driving with me on the way there/back maybe the Marcos, I believe the reliability is there now but if I drove it all the way there myself I'd be a pretzel, the driving position leaves a bit to be desired for long jaunts...
