that is what people on VWVortex are running their R32's in ...is that right? The rules on this board don't have R32 listed. But it does have a 24v VR6 listing which is the same motor. But an R32 has 4 motion and coils atleast from the factory, it also has 240hp rather then 200 as my GLI does......

The R32 was officially added to D-Stock in the June 2004 Fastrack. It's also eligible for STX. Nice car, good powerband, first decent rear suspension VW's produced. It's one big downfall for autocross will be weight - all 3,400 lbs of it. :(

weights about 50 lbs less then an STi according to my current research. I will have to poll more sources because I find this hard to believe but it would be a nice suprise! :dancin:

Huh?
The non r32 one(no 4motion which must be heavier than a fwd) is 3036. Guessing it is going to be heavier than the STi. But I really don't know.
The subaru website seems to say 3085 for the sti sedan.

Both the STi and R32 are heavyweights, but the R32 is heavier.
Curb weight for STi is 3,298
Curb weight for R32 is 3,409
Performance-wise, the R32 isn't a match for the STi or EVO 8 - it's down on power, grip and handling. It's actually a very close match for the standard WRX in raw performance, although the R32's powerband would be a lot easier to live with on a daily basis.

p.s. you can figure autocross weight will be 100-150 lbs lighter than curb weight, with less gas and no spare tire or jack.
