Okay, so I know nobody's going to belive me. I've got one of the twenty 1990 model year prototypes. It's a standard Sundance frame and body-wise, but it has a hodgepodge of engine components that just don't add up. It has a larger turbocharger than offered at the retail level, and has an EMC that just doesn't quit. It also has the Duster transmission and the larger of the 2.5L heads.
The guy who sold it to me was the guy who bought it from the executive auction in 1991. He swears up and down that he's had no work done on the car. I don't have a reason to not trust him. All of the parts register as Chrysler, but none of them are supposed to go together on that model.
I'm in the process of rebuilding the motor, and when I'm done would love to bring it out, but wouldn't neccesarily feel comfortable dropping it in the GS category. (I did remember that right?) I suppose a few SI runs would be in order, but would the fact that it has a larger than normal turbocharger put me in SM?
Just wondering, because if it does place me in SM, then I may as well add my own stuff to it...
