Would I be alright to assume this is going to generally follow the MOWOG schedule? Is it all on-site registration? Anyone planning on going?

I'm not exactly sure how the event format will be structured - it's up to Nord Stern.
Note - the Eventmasters for this event are Harvey Robideau 952 221-0443
and Jeff Lawrence.

I've got question for event master and hate to phone him @ 9pm :oneeye:

No email addys for these guys on Nord Stern site. Anyway we can get either Harvey or Jeff's email or field questions about event here?

I once owned a set of Porsche 912 rims if that constitutes as anything. Oh, and I know Dave Parsons pretty well ;)

yeah and I'm the secretary for the club that Bill started, do I qualify? HEH

I own a Porsche (RUF) in Gran Turismo 3. I'm sure that qualifies me to run with these guys. :D

Will I be seeing a Carrera GT???

I should try and talk my co-worker into it before Sunday. He just bought a new
911 Carrera in yellow. He just broke it in on a road trip to Colorado and it
should be ready for a co-drive. :alc:

Stating this I am 100% postive that I will still be going to La Crosse. :barf:

My dad has a friend who is going that is a club member, but it's his first event, so he's not much help. I really can't find anything on this event besides the date. Didn't someone from Nord post something last time they had an event?

The Mrs got MTV season of "Punked" from Netflix where they play hoax on kid from "Malcom in the Middle" and rip off his $200,000 Speedster. (or was $250,000) Anyways, the kid yells at parking lot valet "Wheres my PORSHHHH?!" :sarc

It is a metropolitan Council series event, with the same rules and classes as MAC.
By the way, we [MAC] are the only club that runs strictly with met. council rules.
And if'n I get the 'B' s brakes back together I will be there.
After all, I'm the one who has pushed so hard to get a met.council series going again.

I'm going to be there. Had to miss mowog 5 due to a wedding reception (mine) the night before. Priorities :D

Let's get some D-stockers up there this weekend.

Hi all,

Harvey here .. Dwight is correct. It is a Met Council event and Met Council members will be classed and scored accordingly. Nord Stern will be classed and scored per Nord Stern rules unless they are running for Met Council points and choose to be classed and scored as such. Hopefully this will not cause our time keeper to much of a problem. We may need a few days after the event to sort out times and get the final info to competitors but I believe that having a Met Council series available is worth the wait. Trophys should be ready for the next Met Council meeting. Bob Kosky has offered to pass them along at that time and is another reason to attend Met Council meetings or at least have a representative there.

My plan is to have registration at 9am, drivers meeting at 10 with runs to follow shortly thereafter. Early arrivers may need to wait while things are organised but we will take care of you as fast as we can. Hoping for at least 6 runs.

Thanks for your time and please be gentle :-)

questions? concerns? suggestions? 952-221-0443

Dwight, get that British machinery working. Would like to see it run this weekend

Forgot to add $35 PCA members, $40 non memebers. Cash or check, no money orders or street car tokens. Do they have tokens now that street cars are back?

What about car numbers? I sense a conflict between the Met Council numbers list and the Nord Stern numbers list.

Phil asks: <What about car numbers? I sense a conflict between the Met Council numbers list and the Nord Stern numbers list.>

Good question and problem not completely resolved yet but probably an identifier tag as the met council entrants are added to the data base. May need a minus sign, or some such, on the met council cars or nord stern cars so the starter can give timing and scoring a heads up when staging.

Drat!
My 'new' brake master cylinder' is leaking. do you know how difficult it is to R&R? [on an MGB]
It was rebuilt by Brake & Equipment in MPLS. They bore out the cylinder and then re-sleeve it with stainless steel. But the leak looks like it's from the resevoir. I need to get it done today or no go tomorrow at the Nord Stern event.

Halelujah!
Got it fixed!
Well I went, and was NOT disappointed.
What fun. We had 49 entrants. All done and packed up, tires switched back to 'street' tires' by 3:30.
Six runs, my best a 101.3.
Darn cones!
About 1/3 were there for met. council points.Several of us stopped at clearwater to 're-hydrate'
This is one to not miss. Close to home, series points.
Next year, we hope to have at least 5 clubs in the series.

Thanks to all the MAC members that were able to attend the event. Everything went smoothly and judging by the smiles on everyones faces, I think all the competitors had a good day. The superb weather made it easy to enjoy. One of my goals was to get 6 runs and finish early to beat some of the weekend traffic. With help from everyone the run group changeovers went smoothly and quickly with no prompting needed. The sight was cleaned up and the last car left about 3:30. That left plenty of time for bench racing and 're-hydrating' as Dwight put it, at Clearwater.

The Met Council results will be posted as soon as our timing guy gets the numbers sorted and crunched. Trophy info to follow.

As event master and on behalf of Nord Stern, I would like to thank you all for making this event a success.

Good time! Thanks again Harvey

Lots of eye candy, but I fell in love with that early 70s Brown 911S w/ Gold Panasport style rims and oldie grill badges. The car was... (dare i say), a rat ride that only a true enthusiast could adore. Just my style :D

I'll second Bill's comments. It was a fun event with a lot of great cars and great people. I liked the course - a nice mix of tight and open sections and no problem with "sea of cones" confusion.

A few other special memories from the event:
- Charles Swope's 'vette blowing a cone over with its side pipe exhaust
- Dwight (da Prez) charged with 654 cones on one run (ok, so it was a T&S mix up)
- Russ Wiles' very hooked-up M3 that took FTD by over 3 seconds. I'd love to see Russ and Steve Jones go at it sometime.

Sounds like a great event, wish I could have been there.

Russ Wiles is the "man" when it comes to BMW's, well at least a co-man with Bob Tunnell. He's a hell of a driver (4 Solo II National Championships in 4 different cars) and a heck of a nice guy. He also owns one of the cleanest M3 Lightweights in the country, and uses it.

It would have been fun being schooled by him. Scary fast.

Steve

The first thing I said to Strider, "we will be owned by that M3 parked over there"

Seeing your M3s duke it out for FTD @ local venue would be cool!

The phenomenon of the Solo Events Board re-classifying a car model on the basis of one brilliant driver (thereafter hamstringing mere mortals who enter with the same model) is known generically as "The Russ Wiles Effect".

I have not met Russ, but I will attest that Bob Tunnell is also a very nice guy as well as a brilliant autocrosser.

It was a blast!

the two things I learned:

1. I can't take the entrance to the "parking lot" section as fast as a certain white M3.

2. Launching off the line is tougher with the emergency brake on.

Very fun day. There were some incredible cars there, and some great drivers. The course finally gave me a chance to learn to drive the car. On the last run, I think I figured out HOW TO SHIFT, and that I had another 1/4 inch to full throttle. Oh well. Maybe one of these days the car will make it through 12 runs.

That Stang is sweet. You will get the bugs worked out and it will
all be worth it. Keep on battling.

Russ Wiles.... I have not seen him at an event since a SCCA
event in Rochester.

Yes, it was a good time, but those darn cones burned me.
I'm anxious to see my times from the last three runs.

Harvey - when I looked at the registration forms after the event on Sunday to get the classing for the points I thought Jeff and Cindy Lawrence had put down ASP for their 911 (as well as 9M and 9W for the Porsche competition). That's the only change I would have to the list you posted.

I updated the list to include Nord Stern Entries. Also added Met Council classes for two people and corrected a couple of spellings.
