Is anybody planning on having the MAC banner at Wheels and Wings?

Last year I remember a few MAC members parking by each other and handing out MAC propaganda. I'd like to park with the club. (but I can't be held liable for burnt ankles...)

Info on the event is now on www.motorbooks.com

Dunno about the banner.

This is Sue's year to go to Little Falls for the craft show, so I'm, batching it. Can't decide whether to take my Lotus or her Triumph. I get lots of looks in either one, for different reasons.

Dave Parsons got there early and got a choice spot for the club last year, unfortunately he is in the middle of an all expense paid trip to Florida (work, 12 to 16 hours a day) and won't be there. I will be there early but with a Vintage club though, not MAC.
Lots of cars to see ALL kinds, even one with an ankle heater --- Is that what you call those pipes Mike?

Me and my Dad usually show up, as it's pretty close to our house. We usually just park in the back field. Mike, we'll look for you.

We have a banner? I guess the trailer IS a mess, as I didn't even know we had one!:p

and it just gets better... now I may not be back for the 26th race, but working on a way out. back to Osceola, SOMEONE please try to get there early, and snag that great spot I got for us last year. Some of the larger clubs can get an "area" from the organizers, but need to have a bunch of cars, and history at the event. I liked the shade, the trees to hang the banner on, the location to watch most of the cars come by, and the location to show off to the cars coming by OUR club. If we can get 2-3 cars there early, and start our own "history" of grabbing that prime spot, (good shade for us, good exposure for the club) that would be great!!! I'm totally bummed I can't be there, but hopefully others can step to the plate for this years event.

Does anyone know exactly where Dave is talking about. Let's describe it now, and several of us can make a point of being there early.

BTW, what time qualifies as early enough to snag this prime spot?

enter the grounds. there will be nice people in orange vests giving you a goodie bag. you will have to turn left to proceed to the show area. there will be a left you can take, that will go in front of the motorbooks bldg. don't take it. let the britts have that area. continue straight. there will be a small group of trees to your left, and to your right, a parking lot. go left under trees. there is a small hill behind the trees, leading up to a metal "pole shed" sort of building. these trees are where its at. shade to watch all the other cars, lots of places to hang banners, and talk to people who have to walk by that spot to get to the larger lots. If the parking droids try to stop you, just tell them you have a club coming and this is where they are all meeting. it worked for me last year.
dwight, paul, lee, and a few others were there last year, and should know the spot.

early would have to be defined as "when the gates open" or very shortly there after.

Did you mean "there will be a RIGHT you can take, that will go in front of the motorbooks bldg."?

Phil it's just at the point you turn right to go into the field that's across from the Mototrbooks warehouse, there's a small cluster of trees right off the street. From this spot you can see where they have the 1/2 price books and the concession stand.

I'll try to be there early, but I'd better not be first, because I apparently can neither remember where you were last year nor figure it out from these directions. I've been going to this thing just about every year for a decade and a half and thought I knew the place...

OK, there are some landmarks. For purposes of this discussion, I will call the straight roadway onto which you turn left when the arbiters let you enter the show "The Street".

Going down "the Street" you come to:
On the right, the turn to the office parking lot. Eventually that leads to MGs.
On the right, "the grassy knoll" where the Mini, Jag, and Healey guys hang.
On the left, the barnlike building around which the Triumph club congregates.
On the right, the concession stands in front of the loading docks on the main building.
On the left, the large field which is full of muscle cars and street rods.
On the left, the big bank of portapotties.
On the right, the grassy area which extends around behind the main building.
"The Street" ends in some sort of garage/maintenance structure.

Can you put Dave's space into that context?

Pole barn, right?

That's it! Go straight where the MG's turn and then pull in to the left in front of the pole building. There are some trees in front of it --- thats where to go, park in the shade! Just past the building is a large area with lots of cars, across the road from it is the "Hill" that the Austin Healey Club "takes" each year.

Phil your making this harder than it needs to be! Do you remember where you parked last year? The location is less than 50ft from where you parked it's just as you turn left into the largest field by as Paul said "The Pole Barn". You came over and talked to us!

OK, you are standing in the street in looking at the pole barn. There is a driveway going to a loading dock or somthing on the pole barn. The Triumphs are parked to the left of the driveway. MAC is to the right of the driveway. Got it.

Do they serve breakfast at the (Lions Club or whatever) concession stand?
When do they start?

I think I will duck out on the traditional Perkins round-up and convoy. If I go directly to the site in the AM I can get there a lot sooner.

I like to go up the Wisconsin side so I don't need to go through downtown Osceola and the bottleneck at the railway bridge. How is I94 eastbound looking these days?

I 'crawled' through the trailer, and found the MAC banner. It's in my car, and I will bring it.

What time are you heading out Dwight? Maybe I'll follow you up.

As long as you don't smokescreen me again... :)

Yeah, what time is this "early" you speak of? When are people planning on getting there? We're halfway up 95, so I guess we'll have to go through downtown Osceola.

I believe they open at 8:00, I always take the MN side up early & never have trouble, in fact I've heard the WI 35 backs up so I don't know who you should believe. Dave said a club member should get there around 8:00 to save the spot, since you live closer if you can that would be great.

Yep, we'll be there at 8. How do we go about saving spots without getting beat up by the vintage jaguar club?:D

I don't think Vintage Jag owners get up that early:D

as you look at the pole building you want to be under the trees in the front on the right, it's a great spot with lots of traffic so MAC gets lots of exposure.

I'm planning on leaving about 7:00 AM. I don't know if the spouse is going or not. Depends on if the Miata top is done. Brian said he was going as well. Soooooo.

Once again, Paul, you failed to use a hyphen to explain what you mean.

Vintage-Jag owners
or
Vintage Jag-owners

or maybe both?

I will attempt to be there in a timely manner.

The more vintage the owner OR car, the less likely to be there early :D

I have the club banner. Dwight went downtown to the craft show with Bobbi. Mike Davis and I persuaded Dwight to leave up the banner. I took it home in the Triumph.

I didn't think I needed to point this out before the event, but ... ;-)

If we want to make a presence with our autocross cars at this general car show for our autocross club, we should be sure to have our magnetic numbers and stickers on our cars so they all look like a group of autocross cars! Dwight and I were the only folks there with autocross numbers! Something to work on for next year, maybe?
