Anyone know anything about this event or planning on going?
-who's putting it on?
-any special rules to deal with?
-etc.

I haven't competed in quite a few weekends and need a warmup...

I don't know about that event, but during the same weekend there are 2 events down in Iowa. The first event, sponsered by the Iowa Region SCCA, is on Sunday at the Waterloo Greyhound track. It is a nice sized lot and has the same surface as the surface at Topeka (which I know should interest you). On monday there is another event which I believe is at DMACC, the same place as the event you came down for last November. I have also heard the same event could be at the go-cart track in Marshaltown so better check www.dmvrscca.org occasionally.

Thanks for the information Adam!!

1) I just mapped it on Yahoo and it looks closer than Milwaukee.
2) It's on Sunday instead of Monday
3) Concrete like Nationals
4) Woohooo!
5) I get to try out my new(!) Hoosiers!!
6) I get to clear a few cobwebs out

Would you be going Adam?

To answer your original question, the Milwaukee SCCA is holding the Monday event. It is without a doubt one of the best site in the midwest, but it is smooth asphalt, not concrete. The event runs similar the the one you did in Peru. While it would be nice to see you in Milwaukee, if you want prictice for Nat's, you should go to the Iowa one and get those Hoosiers scrubbed in. (You did heat cycle them, didn't you?) If wasn't way farther for me, I might be tempted to join you there. Good luck!

Looks like I miss Milwaukee again, I'll make it eventually.

The Hoosiers were heat cycled by The Tire Rack, but they're definitely not scrubbed in yet. Looks like I'm going to Iowa...

Dave,

If interested, you could come down to Austin Sat. night, spend the night at my house, and follow me down there on Sunday. I believe Chuck Bower is doing just that as it really makes for an easier day. I believe I have a run of yours on tape from the Fairmont Auto-x, so we could take a look at that.

yep, i'm heading to Adam's on Saturday- let me know if you want to "caravan" down. i've got new Kumho's that I'll need to heat cycle, perhaps on the way down? i'll have to read the heat cycle instructions.........i agree that's it's an excellent surface and decent size lot. it's run more casually than MAC as there's less of a turnout, but expect to get 3-5 runs. we got 4 runs last time. in that event, Adam beat me in my own car by 0.003 seconds (drat!), and he beat me in his car by about 0.020 seconds. i tried to return the favor in driving his car but could only get within 0.5 seconds on a severly corded tire, but since i was the one to flat spot it (just like i did in my car- hey, i gotta get used to speed again!) it's my own fault. all in all a great time! your hoosiers/driver combo should rock!

I've "successfully" heat cycled two sets of Kumho's, here's what I know...

Definitely heat cycle them by Friday. You need to get them off the ground (for 24 hrs. or more) after heating them to allow for "proper" cooling. I've done OK by driving them at highway speeds for an hour or so (on a dry/warm day) with a little aggression right before getting home with the above mentioned dismounting (stack them on their sides).

Regarding the trip down, I'm OK with an early morning caravan. If we can arrange it I could carry your tires for you too. I'll have plenty of room since it's just a day trip.
