I have an intake manifold I want to have powder coated. Any recommendations?

Is it cast? If so, make sure to tell your powdercoater. Ask them if they need to de-gas it. Basically, if there's a gas pocket in your casting, it may blow up in the oven while baking the powdercoating. De-gassing is a low temperature rise to test it. May blow up anyway. :)

Otherwise, your local powdercoater should be able to handle it O.K. Sorry, my powdercoater is here in Wausau...can't recommend any others. Good luck!

Interesting...you are in wausau. I am originally from Wausau and my parents still live there. I am assuming you powdercoat at Crystal Finishes? or is it Chemchrome? I had them do some stuff back in high school. You have a decent drive to events huh?

Yup...I'm here smack dab in the center of the sports car universe....Wausau, Wi. I've pu t a few miles on many vehicles getting to and from events in the past 10 years!

We use Crystal Finishing for all of our cabinet and pit cart work here at C Tech. They do a nice job, but we expect to put in our own line in a couple of years. What is your families name?

How about bead blasting this manifold, and then clear coating it?

The manifold is new, so it's clean. Clear coating it is my fall-back position. My preference is powder coating for longevity.

Clear-coating and powder-coating are not mutually exclusive things. There is such a thing as clear-coating via powder-coating.

Dave, I've used http://www.newimagecoatings.com/ in Ham Lake at the referral of the McCullough's and I've been very happy with them.
