hey guys...
I'm new here and looking for some info...
I have a 89 Mustang 5.0
mods are:
mods to suspension: Sub frames, and 17" wheels with street tires (stock are 15")
motor work:
Aftermarket supercharger, heads, headers.
Could someone tell me what my options would be, as far as what class I would/could be in?
What kind of other cars would be in my class ?
Thanks!

To someone like Steve G or Lee: Are the subframe connectors legal in Street Mod?
If not, is this E-Mod or D-Mod?
Edit - To Bandit - what kind of cars are in your class? FAST ones!!!!

You would either be in Street Mod 2 (SM2) or E Modified (EM). The determining factor will be exactly what kind of subframe enhancements you've made. Many common ponycar subframe mods, such as replacement K-members or triangulated subframe braces, will put you in E Mod. What exactly have you done?
In SM2, you would run with quite an assortment of vehicles. Local competitors are currently driving Opel GT, Supercharged Miatas, MR2, and a few I've probably missed.
In EM, you would run primarily with forced-induction vehicles that have too many mods to fit elsewhere. The class winner this year was a stripped Nissan 240sx with a Japanese turbo-engine swap, with others running such cars as a supercharged '88 Mustang, Factory Five Cobra, and turbocharged RX7. Nationally, this class is made up of extremely light, purpose-built cars that are silly-fast. But we don't have anyone with that type of car running locally.
Initially, you'd probably want to start out in the Special Interest (SI) class. This is a class primarily for new drivers - you can win it once, then you have to move into a regular class.
Thanks!

The sub frames that I have are Steeda "single tube" type that only connect the front and rear sub frame together. I have no K-member or triangulated braces.
I may put in a strut tower brace this winter also.
How would I find out for sure what class I would be in, as it may direct future mods to the car this winter...
Thanks!

You would currently be in SM2. Those particular Steeda braces are SM2-legal.
Realistically, I'm not sure I'd worry too much about which of those two classes you'll be in. At a local level, it won't matter too much which of the two classes you're in. At a divisional/national level, your car simply won't be competitive in either class - there's not a Mustang out there that is. If there's a mod that makes the car more enjoyable - go for it. :) However, I'd recommend doing our Novice School in the spring and attending a number of events, before spending money on autocross-specific mods.

i have the perviously mentioned 240sx. as mnbiker said, the mustang dosn't have a hope of being nationally competitive in either class, just like my car, and thus, locally e mod is just for those people who want to have the ultimate money pits:dancin: in short, autoxing is fun no matter what class your in, so do whatever mods to your car that make you the most happy, cus that's what it's all about, right?

I think Steve means SM, not SM2. Steve has SM2 on the brain.

Nope, I meant SM2. The Supercharger bumps him out of SM and into SM2. :)

Yeah, 5.0L is over the 4.0L displacement limit for an FI pushrod SM car
