I wanted to chime in with my Good Luck to you all as well.

So here goes. Good Luck, enjoy Solo City, hopefully next year I can make it too. Already talking about it with the better half and she's agreeable at this time. Pat time to get that National Championship, Randy kick some butt, Neal prove the Civic's aren't the only fast FWD car in SM(might help us get our own classs, too), Steve keep that Miata in one piece, Come on Rog even Homer gets a trophy from time to time. Anybody else I missed godspeed and good luck.

Like Chuck says, drink constantly as it looks like a warm forecast. In '00 Chuck and his dad thought I might die. I was having problems eating, sitting up,talking etc. and had the world's worst headache. I believe I fell asleep at 6:30 pm and slept like a rock.

Chuck, I think I forgot something around mid-august. Sorry, I'm an idiot.

As far as Nationals goes, I am in a new school district this year and only have 1 personal day. Son of a .....

Howdy from Topeka! Chris, Darryl, Pat and I are here, and ready to go for the warmup event. The weather is hot & windy (WAY better than rainy!)

We're going to have quite a little MAC village at Naitonals - with Pat's fancy RV right in the middle.

I have no idea how I'll do at Nationals, as the car has only been together in it's current configuration for one event. But I'm going to have fun, no matter where I finish!:)

The practice event tomorrow is running the North Course from 2004 Nationals - which is a very challenging layout. I'll record my runs and post one, so people can see what it's like to run in an SM2 car on Topeka concrete.

Steve, we all know you got it, the car's got it, just zen yourself into the zone, use the force, and lay down some smack! Put the fear of MAC in those guys!!!

Can Pat stay on site overnight or does he have to move the RV?

Steve, et al

Is it too late for you to save a spot nearby? We'll be in early Wed morning...

And for all you Tue/Wed drivers who will be running before we get there: GOOD LUCK!

Unless things have changed, Solo City is an area just outside the fence at Forbes Field where motor home can stay all the time. There are no hookups, but there are no big fees, either. Bring a self-contained camper and forget about hotel bills.

Quite a party atmosphere thereabouts as I recall.

Neal & Katie,

We saved you a space in our "village". You may need to park the trailer in the storage lot over by the North course for a day, depending on how tightly we pack cars/trucks together.

On a related note, it's AMAZING how full the paddock is. This practice of allowing drivers to reserve spots for two additional drivers has gotten totally out of hand - as the paddock was completely full by Sunday.

-Steve

p.s. Dave P. - Darryl says to remind you that Nationals doesn't start until TOMORROW. ;)

Cool. Thanks!! We usually park the trailer in "trailer city", so that's no problem at all. Just need room for the Scirocco and the Titan.

(hmmm...just realized that putting that nice truck storage box on the trailer doesn't work so well at Nationals...<shrug>)

I figured there would be some stories of spins in practice, smack talking, who came up with the biggest secret weapon, ambushes, the usual that we wanna-go's have to hear about but not experience. (till next year...)

Were there not two days of Pro Solo and a warmup event to talk about?

Well unfortunately it doesn look like they are having good weather in Topeka right now.

http://www.crh.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS.p19r0/si.ktwx.shtml

Sounded like they actually had to hold up the event due to the severity of the weather.

i just talked to alex L a few min ago, and he said e stock went first, in poor conditions, and by the end of e stock the pavement was dry. he also noted a few times that he wasn't near the end of e-stock.....

i think he said the posponed the start of the event for like 2 and a half hours.

Updated results.

http://www.scca.com/Event/Event.asp

Click on "solo" link on the left, then beneath it click on solo nationals. Then over on the right there is a list of links, clickon the bottom one (event results) and it will give you a list of classes to click on. Results updated last night.

Interesting to see which cars dominate which classes. Also good results for Randy and Pat. Lots of other "locals" doing well too! Check it out!
