Is anyone going to be participating in the this year's GRM $2003 challenge? My son and I will be there with the '84 yellow GTI familiar to many of you.

Dave,

That was the car that I really learned to drive with. It was a fun car, good
luck at the event.

After the GRM event my son will be using the car (after a few upgrades) to get his SCCA competition license. So its driver education role continues.

My old Lepus is going to be in a magazine! Will it still be yellow?

Represent us well.

Yep, Lepus will still be yellow, but with some color sanding and buffing -- gotta do well in the concours. A new clutch assembly and some new graphics, but otherwise essentially the same as when you had it. We'll do our best, but we don't expect to place too high given the competition -- but it's all about having fun. He's an excellent autocrosser, but he'll be making a transition from his 911 to the Rabbit. Me, I'm used to driving cars without a lot of horsepower -- although the drive wheels are the wrong way 'round from a Miata.

Chris,

What did you all change on the car after you got it?
You ever put any different springs in it?

I know you took off the massive front sway bar on the
car that made it so it wouldn't drive around on three
wheels and you replaced the crappy exhaust system it
had on it.

Yes, I did remove the huge front sway bar. It was making some nasty noises. I had a set of H&R race springs installed and swapped the Boge front shocks out for a pair of Bilstein HD's. It got an alignment jobs that seemed to improve it's handling and a set of SS brake lines (on the front anyway) while I was doing replacing the brake calipers. Late in the game, I installed a G-grind cam.

Now, those original springs and Boge shocks are residing in my 83 Jetta.
