Have to make a run down to Iowa to drop off a snowmobile I sold. Figured I would swing by and see parents that live in waterloo.

Also i cant get my car and sled down there was wondering if anyone would be willing to let my drive there car. Would like to try something different since I will need to buy a new car next year since hopefully the SRT will be sold.

Thanks

I would, but it's my dad's birthday, so I probably shouldn't.

I plan on going, but already have a codriver, I think. To bad to, you could have drove a real Neon.

I'm going, but am co-driving with either Adam Quimby or my cousin Pete in his BMW (sweet!). Ah, what the heck, I'll let you drive my Miata. We'll squeeze you in. I'm just running on old street tires anyway!

Same tires you drifted on at Winona?

Adam,

Let Paul play on the 710's

Its not Paul, its Ryan. And remember, I only have 3 710's since chris lost one of mine.

And no Paul, the red one is Chris's. These tires are Michelin SX-GT's. Not a bad tire. They are very responsive but not quite as grippy as a really good street tire. 180 tread wear.

Paul will be in LaCrosse taking the Washburn AX School, now I just have to decide which car to take :-) Weather permitting I think it'll be the Sprite on it's new shooz, the Miata's 710s are looking kinda worn...

EDIT:

Posted at the same time, those tires sound better, hope you get good weather, 30 % rain chance in Lacrosse.

...not to be confused with a real car.

I'm sorry. I had to.

From the first post in "Paul WTB Miata"

I'm becoming a lemming/joining the new MAC (Miata Autosports Club).

It's lemming behavior, what can I say.
Yesterday I was running hot and cold in the Miata:

Top off, heater on

Mike,

Ouch, just for that slam I'm going to run over your foot at the Washburn School on Sunday, I'll be getting seat time AND helping too

You know you could have been at Waterloo, you just volunteered to be helpful instead :D

I will not be going to waterloo tom. The guy that bought my sled decieded to drive all the way to my house instead of paying me to drive half way.

Thanks again for the offer. Would have loved to drive a miata. have fun down there maybe it will not snow there.

I had an absolute blast. On the way down, the weather was horrible; rain and cold. The morning showers quit and the course dried to the surprise of all. An even bigger surprise for me was the sight of Randy Williams Miata pulling into the parking lot.

We had a good battle. The first runs were in the wet but later runs were in the dry. After 6 Randy had me by 2 tenths (both on street tires), but after 4 (what Iowa region counts) I'm not sure who won. Quimby was about a second behind, codriving my car. Tharpe and Reinhardt were suppossed to show but wimped out due to weather concerns. I can't really blame them, they aren't Minnesotans after all.

I ran Quimby's Neon also. It was really dialed in on this course. I was just 0.9 seconds off of my Miata's time in it. Quimby was about eight tenths behind.

Overall I had a tremendous amount of fun. I think it is because I was co-driving again. I'm an addict, but I do understand I need help.

PinHead was off pace yesterday but I'll let him explain.

A Minnesota EVO driver was there too (talked to him quite a bit, but I can't recall his name).

Adam,It was fun,and I won (by a couple of tenths)
Susan and I drove down Saturday in nice weather and hung out in Waterloo
Was almost the same course we ran just before Nationals
Good to see everyone before the season ends.
Now If we could only get rid of "Buckey"
"what starts in Waterloo ends in Waterloo"

I don't think my driving was much worse than usual (aside from having a hard time on the sweeper at the far end), I was just on the crappy tires and the course just wasn't overly Mini-friendly. My car does 0-60 in 8.7 seconds. When you have a ~300 sweeper followed by an 1/8 mile drag strip, the Mini is going into the first slalom a few seconds behind most anything else ;)

I did have a lot of fun, though. I would have liked to have driven that course on sticky tires on a warm / dry day. Those 2 slaloms would have been awesome.

Who is Buckey? Roger Christopherson? I think he is entertaining.

Good point, Pinhead, on it not being a Mini course. Two huge sweepers and some massive straights. It would have been a good Z06 course or Mod course (under warmer conditions).

I'm glad everyone liked the course. I had to compromise a bit since it was raining, I didn't want too many spins. Look for a tougher course next year.

I had a lot of fun too. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't come out in front of Adam A in my own car, but what can I say he is an exellent driver and for me to be on the same second as him is an OK thing.

Driving Adams car was a blast, but it seems like every time I get to drive a Miata there is no stick to it. Its either got crappy tires or its a fricking monsoon. When the track started to dry on sunday the car completely changed. It was awsome.

Josh - it was a fun course!

I like running in Waterloo so much, so I was pretty dissappointed that there were so many conflicts between the MAC and Iowa SCCA schedules. Hopefully next year we can try to sync up a little. For you guys, though, it may make more sense to sync up with DMVR and Quad Cities or Great River --- whatever that "other" Iowa club is.

Kevin Frett mentioned that the greyhound track may be sold over the winter, I hope that it either doesn't get sold (even though tha'ts probably not a very nice thing to say), or that whoever buys it is open to letting us use it on Sundays!

CR_TurboGuy

Yeah, there's talk about it being sold or them trying to re-establish greyhound racing there. We're trying to scope out a few more possible venues to give us a little variety. I think there are a few possibles in the Waterloo area, so hopefully you guys would still be able to come down. I'll try to keep the website updated w/ any new info. And results from the last 3 events should be up in a day or so, I just got the cards at the last event.
