It's a road trip, but for those who want the higher level classes...

Sent to me via the Great River Region:

The Salina Region of SCCA is sponsoring a weekend of Evolution AX
schools.
They are having trouble filling the spots necessary to meet the minimum
enrollments. Please forward this info to your membership (if
applicable).
Anyone interested should contact Robert M. Pickrell Jr.

Subject: Salina update

We are about to have to cancel Friday
and Sunday's schools. We need a
minimum of 10 people per class to host a
school. Phase I has 3 Friday
students, 16 Saturday Students and 1
Sunday Student. This could be
combined into two Phase I's on Saturday.
Phase II has 7 Saturday
students and 6 Sunday students, this
could be combined into one Phase II
class. (Note we may have a tuition sur
charge with only three classes,
depends on airfare). This would
eliminate the Friday Phase III or
challenge as we would need at least 10
students.

I will paste the latest update list
below, it includes some of the above
thoughts. Tell your friends to quit
stalling if they are interested, or
they may miss the opportunity.

Ok folks we are coming to a deadline. At
this time Friday Phase I and to
some extent the Challenge or PIII class
may be cancelled. We only have 3
people for Phase I on Friday, and one
person for Phase I on Sunday.
Phase I on Saturday only has two
openings left. Phase II on Saturday has
7 students and Phase II on Sunday has 6
students. Right now I would have
to drop all Friday and Sunday schools
and combine all classes to
Saturday, AND probably only offer a
Phase I and II class. So spread this
around and recruit people if you want to
keep the options open. Note
some PI people on Saturday are PII
people on Sunday, this would
eliminate being able to take two classes
in the weekend. Check for you
name below for school and deposit
amounts. We will need at least 10
students per class to hold the class. So
far Friday schools are in
question, so pass this around, have them
contact me at
brnrubr@royaltiresalina.com for info.

Thanks Rob

Challenge or P III, Friday 4/14:

Phase I , Class # 1 Friday 4/14:

Phase I, Class # 2, Saturday 4/15:

Phase I, Class #3, Sunday 4/16:

Phase I Wait List

Phase II Wait List:

So if you see your competitor on this
list and you are not or have not
taken the schools, guess what you loose
next year. Yes the schools are
that good.

I'd be interested, depending on the availability of a spot in a local Evo school.

I’m working with Steve trying to secure a site suitable of hosting an Evo school but at this point it’s 50/50 that MAC will be able to host in 2006.

Evolution schools are a great investment, Evolution is the Skip Barber of Autocross. They teach both car position and the mental preparation side of Autocross. The best investment you can make is in the nut behind the wheel. Alignments, sway bars, all that stuff is important but none compare to the gains you’ll make by taking these classes. I plan a taking them again this year somewhere.

I hope Darryl and Steve manage to bring the EVO school to town once again. The phase I school I took last year was an excellent learning experience and tons of fun. I'm planning to take the phase I school again this year and the phase II. (I plan to keep taking the phase I school until an instructor tells me they can't teach me anything more in it. Could be a lot of schoolin'...)

FWIW, Milwaukee should be also doing one this year. Fills up really fast though...you should jump on this one if you can.

I inquired with Rob Pickrell of Salina Region. Here's his reply. If you're only interested in Phase 1 or 2, I'd look to get into a class closer. (even Milwaukee is closer than Salina) But Phase 3 or a Challenge class is tougher to come by. Can anyone tell me if this interferes with MAC's spring event at VF?

RE: 2006 Evolution School

Students, (NOTE THERE IS A NEW PHASE I COURSE)

This is the preliminary info. on the School Scheduled for April 14, 15 & 16 2006.

The Salina Region will again be hosting an Evolution Autocross School the third weekend of April.

The cost will be $220.00 per student. We would like to offer a Phase I and a Phase II school, or a Phase III, or even A Challenge School. For definition of schools go to http://autocross.com/evolution/. This will be based upon the interest in the schools. We will accept reservations and deposits for all schools if we have to cancel the school you registered for all money will be refunded, or you can choose to attend the school we offer. We will schedule the schools according to demand and instructor availability, and then depending on amount of space needed for the school. The new Phase I: Has new course, same phase 1 info and instruction, using standard for start and finish, but the new course will allow 2 cars at one time. More runs, not the down time

Here is how it works: We will accept reservations from now until the schools are full and then start a waiting list. It is possible we could put on six schools in the same weekend using Friday, depending on instructor availability and air fares. The reservation from now until January 1, 2005 must have a $50.00 deposit sent along with it. This may be canceled and receive a full refund up to February 1, 2005. After February 1 we must fill your spot before we issue a refund. By January 31, 2005 we require an additional $100.00, with the final $70.00 due by March 15, 2005. After February 1, 2005 no refunds will be issued until we fill your spot. Makes checks out to (SRSCCA) for Salina Region SCCA.

The school runs from 8:00 AM till 4:30 PM. The car must be ready to run by 8:00 AM, do not arrive at 7:45 and expect to have time to change tires etc. Just like an autocross you work to run. Be prepared to be on your feet all day. While there are three groups, you run one and work one, then have one off. You will be running and busy all day. Bring water and what ever you need for all kinds of weather. There may be a concession stand open, depending on the Ball Games scheduled. Lunch will be delivered to the site and is included in your fee. After the school there is an Hour or so debrief session. We hold an autocross both days to give you an extra opportunity to practice your lessons, or to fill Saturday if your school is on Sunday, the cost of the autocross is $20.00 per day or $35.00 for both days and is payable at the site. Note this is not part of your tuition fee. The Region has not set entry fees for 2006 yet, so this may change.

Send ALL of the following info. to the above address: Name, Address, telephone number, e-mail, year make and model, and class if known. Send this all on a full sheet of paper or preferred is an SCCA generic entry form. DO NOT SEND A CHECK WITH INFO. WRITTEN ON CHECK. You may send an e-mail with info; this will hold your spot for ten days until we receive your deposit check. After ten days if we do not have a check your spot will be opened to first come first serve. Two people missed out last year due to not sending the deposit in time; don’t let this happen to you. SO DO NOT DELAY GETTING IN YOUR RESERVATION AND DEPOSIT

Any questions contact me at above numbers or e-mail.

Nope, VF May 6th and 7th, that's what they reported at the last MAC meeting...

Pat can but usually doesn’t promote his schools on our web site…PM him…I’m sure he has some in the works and they are probably as good as an EVO school…he has the credentials. 10 Nationals trips with 8 trophies and has helped me a bit the last three.5 years…
