Since last year was my first year I cannot stop thinking about killing some cones. I was wondering when the events get planned? Also, when can we begin to register for them? I need to sign up for all the events right away cause last year I sat around in suspense waiting for people to not showup. Also I need to tell my new boss when I'm going to be sick um relative died, um...

Membership meetings are on the last Wednesday of the month at Parrish's on 7th St in St Paul. Most of the event site/dates planning is done, I believe the new calendar (hookey reference guide) should be posted within the next two - three weeks.
Some history as you're new:

There is a Council (Met Council of Sports Car Clubs) that coordinates all the individual affiliated clubs calendars so that the different clubs event dates don't conflict. This includes MAC, Corvettes of MN, the local Porsche club, SCCA and several others, the Met Council also maintains car numbers so you can run the same numbers at different clubs events, Autocross Rules and a series with year end awards.

Last year was the first year we had to have waiting lists & it was a learning experience. During the off season it will be discussed and modified for next year. Being at the meetings is the best way to have your input on the final output/procedures... However, I don't think signing up for all the events ASAP will be an option as that was allowed last year and resulted in a large number of no-shows.

How about an unofficial 2006 season schedule preview?

That would have to be from someone more "in the loop" with the planning than me...

I've got a newbie question, a while back I paypal'd my 2006 membership fee and I haven't heard anything. Do I get anything cool like a membership card, or do I just check the member box when signing up for each individual autox?

You get nothing ;) I was confused about that at first, too.

-Roger, who has not sent in his money yet this year

Even though I showed up to all of them?

Hmm, So is it going to be first come first serve? What about memberships, will the people with memberships get a gauranteed spot on race day? I work during the day, weekends and go to school at night so I have little time to my self :(

BTW, I overpaid last event by $10. I was marked as a non-member, but I was a member. Can this go to my 06 membership?

Roger (pinhead) is wrong. You get:
- a discount on events
- the opportunity to vote on issues at the monthly meetings
- the ability to check the "Member" box on the registration form.

You will NOT get:
- a guarantee of an opening at an event.
- a membership card
(what would you do with it, anyway? Flash it at the computer screen when you were registering?)

Don't worry, Eric, I got your registration - you're a member in good standing.

GUS - regarding the $10 overpayment - did you mention that to the person at the registration table at the time?

Ya, you're right Dave. What I meant was that you don't get an acknowledgement that your money has been received, in the form of a membership card or whatever.

Great, Thanks. I'm glad to know that my cashish was received and I am now considered a member, instead of just the tall guy who hasn't driven a car of his own more than 5 miles while on this continent this time...

Membership cards have been discussed at monthly meetings in the past and the general consensus was that the value of having a card isn't worth the time and expense of printing and distributing them.

I'm sure something will be put together soon...this is what I remember...

The schedule started and ended with weekend events at VF...

5 or so other points events and a couple non-points events...and yes, the Novice school...

Do we have any idea yet as to when the Novice School will be ? I know it was two weekends in April last year, but I need to know ASAP when it will be this year. I have relatives determined to come and visit us from abroad in April, and I'd rather not muck up their trip by being busy both weekends they're here. The sooner they book flights, the cheaper it will be for them, and the sooner they'll stop bending my ear about finding out which days I'll be out "playing with the car".

Thanks,
Stuart.

If I were going to "guess" I'd take a stab at April 22/23, but till the "official" dates are posted might be best to either hold off on the tickets or plan to plan around these dates...

April 22/23 was what was on the unofficial event forecast at the November meeting. But again, this wasn't final by any means.

April 22/23 ? Two consecutive days ? Wasn't it two Saturdays last year ? Maybe I'm thinking of something else.

Stuart.

Stuart.

In the past it's always been a one w/e event, Sat Classroom, Sunday Track time, Last year was two weekends because of available dates for the classroom/track.

OK. I suspect having it all in one weekend will actually work out better. Last year was the first year I'd paid any attention to it, so I was basing my expectations on that.

Thanks,
Stuart.

I have a question. Can you get a family rate for membership? I am going to get my daughter and future SIL involved this year. Thanks.

No. Thanks for asking.

We have had "issues" with family and spouse pricing in the past. It's a can of worms I'd rather keep sealed.

No, I didn't relize until after the event when I went to dinner and only had enough for a hamburger. :( I have been lazy for the past couple months.

Thanks Phil! Can't blame a guy for asking.
