Interesting that most if not all of these events are located in the Great Lakes Division. Cen Div was split up for some reason.

Probably because it was geographically huge.

There was more to it than that, but I don't know enough details to really get into it.

It wasn't do to the Autocrossers, it's main reason was due to the road course situation and there locations from what I hear from the LOL'ers

Mr. Steve Jones, two time BSP CenDiv Champ, why the split...

Well,

My take is there's the conspiracy theory and the cold hard facts theory and probably a few more I haven't heard. Bottom line is it was, IMO, all political and driven from the road racing side. It was disguised as an effort to level the playing field between the haves and the have nots and provide the opportunity for more events but certain regions clearly benefited at the expense of others. We are still in the Central Division but with most of the tracks and organizers being in the new Great Lakes Division, we have an uphill battle to re-establish viable programs. AFA solo, they've decided to run the series this year as a joint series, basically changing nothing. Shame since the CenDiv Series is the longest running divisional solo series in the SCCA, last year was the 20th anniversary. I don't know what next year and beyond will look like.

All I know is that since the big split, Milwaukee is the only SCCA region left with a really big Solo2 program.

umm...I'd consider Chicago to be a "big" program. In fact, Milwaukee & Chicago may be the two largest CenDiv Regions, in terms of Solo participation & National trophy winners.

I think there have been times when Detroit has owned them.

I think a few years back, Detroit tied with SF as the most national trophy winners at Nationals.

But that's niether here nor there. It's too bad about the split, but I hope it means that we can eventually see a divisional series where us Minnesotans don't have to drive 8+ hours to every single event :)

I was thinking that Chicago was part of the Great Lakes Division. Either way...

So are you telling us that the map area identified as "Central Division West, Area 5" is now known as Great Lakes Division?

This map makes it look like the split is on the Illinois-Indiana border. This might split the Chicagoland area.

Also, it appears that the yellow part is LOL, Region #18.

Milwaukee? I'm registered.
Thinking seriously about Walnut Ridge. The sights and smells of scenic Arkansas in the spring :)

I'm trying to register, but I can't figure this damn thing out. It list phone numbers that aren't mine, and e-mails that aren't mine. And when I try to put in my address it says that it was terminated and more fields are required, even when I have all the needed ones filled out.

I ended up using Internet Exploder to sign up. FireFox was giving me fits with their asp pages. Sounds like you might need to verify your scca number, if it's bringing up information for other folks. Give them a call.
