I won't be able to make the novice school here, so I might travel to the test & tune in Iowa... I wonder if anyone else from here might be up for traveling.

uh, Porkbone, yeah MAC members are not afraid of doing a little driving. We'll probably make up a quarter of the field for the test and tune! I'm counting on a bunch of us being there. Hopefully I get to set up the track!

I'm going. Had a great time there last year.

Do you have to be a member of the DMVR region, or is SCCA membership enough?

Sweet. In that case unless the weather is sucking, I will definitely be there. Do you think most people will stay the night and attend the regular event the next day too? Or just go for the test & tune?

Sorry, noob questions here- what is the DMVR? Is there a web site or something with more information?

For the MAC members going- are you hitting the test & tune or going for the competition day?

I'm probably just going for the test and tune, but some people do both. I signed up to do course design for the test and tune, but I haven't heard back.

I'm thinking TnT for sure. Not sure about the event itself. A lot depends on the weather.

I'll hit the test and tune. Who's up for splitting a room and doing the event the next day?

Chris and Adam: Is it still on for you guys to flog my car and help make figure out my alignment? :)

I am considering the event the next day. So if others are doing it, I'd be down for splitting the cost of a room...

Ya, we're ready. You want to try a '99 sport?

I posted on SCCA forums about alignment on a 1st gen MR2 and I only got one response. The response was typical for a rear driver: a little toe in in the rear and a little toe out up front.

You bet. The TnT will be an excellent opportunity. It will let us pay attention to what the car is doing without worrying about times. Try to be prepared with tools and such so we can tweak the alignment on site.

I would really like to hit the test and tune (and maybe get some hints/help from some more experienced drivers). But it says SCCA membership is required. Is it really or can I pay extra and not be a member?

I noticed someone else asked, but it was unaswered: Do you need a DMVR membership or just an SCCA membership?

From what I understand it's just SCCA membership.

Correct. And, I just got an emial from them stating that they're only taking 20 or so pre-registered entrants for the t 'n t.

I like to run the 2nd day anyway
Its really all a test and tune for me
Unless you're gonna attend enough events there for points

MiataAndy

Kinda with Randy. I am not, and likely won't be by that time, an SCCA member, so the TnT is out of the question for me. I'll just hit day 2 and use that as a sort of test 'n tune (although it will likely have less runs).

Either way, the countdown to event #1 2006 has begun!!

I'll drive it like it were my own :D

I also posted on the SCCA forum and got nothing. There aren't many experienced MK1 drivers on the MR2 forums that could give me much.

Chris: What kind of tools should I bring along? I have a small selection at home.

I'd say anything necessary to tweak the front and/or rear tow. You'd probably be best to come to the event with a little rear tow in (1/8" or so) and either 0 tow up front or a little tow out. Then make sure you have a full air tank. I'd predict the bulk of the adjustments wil be with air pressure.

Not sure what I need to tweak the toe...

I'll make sure to have an air tank on hand.

I asked if I could be course designer and whether or not we could do a slalom and skidpad to begin the event. He sort of answered the second question with a "I'm not sure how beneficial it will be this time of year" and didn't answer the first question. ????

If I set it up, it'll probably be a little like the old Phase I Evo course; a long slalom followed by a skid pad but then differ by having a section of offsets.

Front toe Adjustment takes a couple of metric wrenches (I wanna say 17 and 19 but don't quote me on it). It looks like a pretty simple adjustment to me. I'll be putting my new rear struts in today so I'll let you know what the rear takes.

Am I suppose to get a e-mail confermation about my registeration for the TNT? I didn't have either of the e-mail services they listed, and outlook on my comp didn't work, so I copied the message it put into outlook and e-mailed it from my personal account. I haven't recieved anything back yet about it, and I want to make sure I get in.

Thanks,

Just email Mike Slater (mslater@att.net) and double-check your registration. He emailed me back right away.

Don't know yet but it's Iowa so there should be a vacant motel room somewhere (Sorry Chris), I'm not reserving in advance in case the cars not ready. I figure someone on Sat someone local can tell me where to go... If you can be that casual about it would you like to share a room?
