I'm pleased to announce that registration is now open for an Evolution (http://www.autocross.com/evolution/) Phase 1 Performance Driving School, to be held on June 18th at Midway Stadium, 1771 Energy Park Drive, St. Paul, MN 55108.

The "original" Evolution program, as developed by the McKamey Autocross School. This first step in the Evolution is where all students start, regardless of experience. The daylong course builds upon students existing skills, while introducing new ideas to improve one’s times. Students both ride and drive with Evolution trained national caliber drivers to learn where they are fast and where they need to improve. Small student teacher ratio of 7:1 insures quality instruction time.
Combined with race-proven skills, concepts, and techniques - this course will improve the performance of all drivers on both road and track. Even experienced driver’s benefit from the Phase 1 course as a refresher for those things they’ve forgotten over the years, or perhaps never learned. No matter what type of car you drive, the Phase 1 skills will improve your overall driving abilities.
Note: All students must provide their own two-seat vehicle for the day. Two driver cars are welcome.
The cost is $225 per person.

Apcray. Driving back from Rendezvous that day. I will have to wait until next go-round.
Will need to skip the T&T the next Saturday, too. Back To The 50s. Sunday at the Back To The 50s is not a full day, so I can blow that off for the Mowog.
I encourage folks to do the Evo. It is well worth the time. I've been twice, and it really works for you if you let it. Don't get hung up on the equipment: any car with tires enough to last the day will be fine.

Did everyone who signed up have one year or less of AX experience? This is for novices...
I don't think so...

The EVO phase I school that I took last year was structured so that *anyone* could improve, regardless of their experience or skill level. That's why I'm taking it again.

So, Paul, by now have you figured out that this thread is for the Evo school and not the novice school, or are our sarky friends too subtle for you?

Sarky indeed...
Would novices benefit from this course? Or is it something you get more out of once you have a couple seasons under your belt?

It's great to see this year's Evo school happening relatively early in the year. I learned a ton in the past two years' schools, but then could only practice those new skills in the one or two last events of the season, then have it all stagnate over a long, cold winter. Definitely the most cost-effective auto-x mod!

The Novice School teaches basics. What to expect at an autocross and some good driving tips. Pat Washburn and his clan do a great job…
Evo is the next step. Evo will save you money, time and you be more competitive is a shorter period of time. If you do the Novice School, both VF events and the Midway event you’ll be ready for Evolution…
I’d sign up…

There may be hope for me to attend depending on when the in-laws head for the airport. *crossed fingers* since this is a sweet school and provides a ton of runs on the course.

The closest hotel:
Holiday Inn Express St. Paul
1010 Bandana Blvd W
St Paul, MN

The Country Inn & Suites in Roseville is excellent, if no space is available at the Holiday Inn.
