OK, we need to make a decision on whether to host a second Nocice School or not. I am in favor of doing so, as we already have 10 people on the waiting list, and I know of several others who are interested. To ensure we get enough attendees, I suggest we open the school to drivers who have attended a previous school, but still feel a need for more instruction.
The dates we are looking at:
May 13th - classroom
May 14th - driving
Are the instructors willing to be there on Mother's Day?
Pat - can you be there for the classroom?
I can be there.

Sorry, I can not attend.
I feel we should do another one also. I think we can fill it up or come very close to it. The only issue is that it's mothers day weekend and I hope we can get enough instructors. Pat I hope your up to it again along with Bob F.

Exactly. I'm going to move this thread to the Upcoming Events thread, so all the instructors can respond. We need a solid 10-12 "yes" responses to move forward. So, anyone who has been contacted by Dave Parsons to instruct at the April 22-23 Novice School, please respond with your availability for a 2nd school.

It looks like we still need commitments from 4-6 Instructors to make the second Novice School a reality. Once I get that many firm commitments, we'll open the event for registration. Time to step up!

If it REALLY comes down to it.. i could probably manage to be a ride along... as long as we're switching cars. i may not be the fastest guy around... but i do understand the lines and such, as well as the importantce of looking ahead.
i just wouldn't want someone to get stuck with me all day :)
i'll leave the call up to the head instructor. if i'm better suited for the trailer or what.

>i just wouldn't want someone to get stuck with me all day :)
It doesn't work that way. We just get out of one car after a chat with the student and walk up the line to get into the first available car in line, hopefully with time for a pre-run chat. A little bit of continuity with students might be possible on the fly, but instructors who skip back on the line to only ride in the coolest cars are considered weasels. ;)
Keeping the numbers of students down (60 is really pushing it, which is why we need a second school) allows enough runs that students should get a good variety of instructors. This is important, because we are all different and nobody can predict which combinations are best.
When they finally let the instructors drive their own cars, the students are free to decide which instructor they want to ride with. Instructors should remember that this is still instruction, and they ought to talk to the student during the run.
>i'll leave the call up to the head instructor.
As do we all. Like Fred Sanford, Dave "coordinated all this".

OK, I just opened the 2nd school for registration. I'd still like to see a few more firm commitments from some experienced instructors. Dave, can you contact the instructor list from the first class?

i'm in MO for the rest of the month doing storm work, but I did bring the list along just in case we needed to do this. I'll make some calls and see who else can commit.

I'm out. Nancy had us scheduled to be is washington state at her mom's house laying ceramic tile flooring that week, so I'm not only out for M1 and M2, (the weekend before) but I'll have to miss the second novice school (the weekend after) as well. I'll still contact other instructors to see who else can come and play.
