AARRF is at DCTC next Wednesday night. We are running a high performance driving clinic with a wet drift pad.

This Clinic is for both new drivers and experienced drivers. New drivers will have to go through the whole clinic before being cut loose to drift or run the two circuits available. It will be fun and you will learn a lot about you and your machine.

It is a stepped program. With four major components.

The four component are:

1. Training Staff consisting of Alan Murray the AARRF Chief instructor and Yellow licensed Touring instructors.

2. Training area 1. A brake intensive switch back course. A section of the course is used for a handling oval. The full circuit it used to teach braking, turn in points and and intro to circuit work.

3. Training area 2. A flowing higher speed course used to teach smooth driving and classic line. This course involves elavation changes and complex corner sequences.

4. Training area 3. Wet skid pad. Water over smooth aggregate asphalt. This skid pad is used for car controll and drift training. This is an elective available after Training Areas 1 and 2 are completed.

Here are the steps you will take.

Step 1. Classroom performance driving basic, and dynamics presented by Alan Murray. Alan is an SCCA LOL Champion and 1998 driver of the year. Alan has worked at the Skip Barber, Bob Bondurant, and Jim Russell Schools. He currently owns Murray Motorsports.

Step 2. Training area 1, Handling Oval: New drivers ride along with touring instructors to see and feel the correct line, lapping in both directions. New drivers then go get there own cars and drive the course. Touring instructors are sent to training area 2 or 3 to run.

Step 3. Training area 1, Complete circuit: New drivers ride along with touring instructors to see and feel the line on the complete circuit. New drivers then go get there own cars and drive the course. Touring instructors are again sent to training area 2 or 3 to run..

Step 4. Training area 2, Complete circuit: A repeat of the patterns above. New drivers ride along with touring instructors to see and feel the line on the complete circuit. New drivers then go get there own cars and drive the course.

When the new drivers complete training area 2. All drivers are free go to the course of choice. New drivers can try the drift pad.

Llew,

So what do I have to do besides the bring a solid car and helmet to run
at Saint Cloud? What is this licensing thing all about? Can I get one of the
instructors to verify that I have the skills or do I have to go through a set of
steps?

Thanks

Steven

For anyone else,

What happened last weekend with the roll over?

AARRF does recognize prior experience. Email me the credentials.

Autocross is very different from road coarse work. Some techniques are very beneficial for autocross but can cause big trouble on a road course.

Again Email the credentials to me.

What time of the day does this event begin?

Should I be concerned if my car is considerably slower than all of those pictured? :)

As I've mentioned in here about 8,395 times, I'm trying to get me '86 MR2 running, but as a backup I could take my '98 Grand Marquis.

Thanks -

I pre-registered and paid for the first lap training that was cancelled. I was told that that payment could be used for future events. I went to pre register for this event on line, but it looks like it requires payment to do so. How do I pre register without paying twice?
Also, is this training required to run at any future AARRF event?

Is this limited to one driver per car or can you handle two driver cars?

Llew,
Whats the verdict on two driver cars? My ride is down for a couple of days due to a bad axle bearing. Would like to double up with my brother who is also attending tonight.
