More or less. We'd need the two fence sitters to actually show up to get the discount.

Remember, this isn't limited to 10 participants. If anyone else is interested, go ahead and sign up.

I think it's limited by the number of cars LSE can get through in a day. We started it because the one we were looking at on MNSubaru was designated AWD only (with one exception). We have a mix of 2WD and AWD, so Josh will have to determine the cap on numbers, and let us know.

As Paul's signature says, we're a friendly bunch. Any friend you bring along who isn't already a club member is still a potential member.

Stuart.

My mistake. I often confuse MAC Member with MAC Forum member. I believe that this is only being actively advertised here right now, although we have hinted at it on the MNSubaru forum.

So, no, it is in no way limited to just MAC Members. If you can find your way to this forum, you're welcome to sign up. What vehicle would you be bringing ?

Ich bin ein non-MAC Mitglied.

That is, I'm not a MAC member, just a MAC Forum Member... though I'm thinking of joining anyway. What's the signup fee?

Incidentally, the AWD restriction was only part of the choice to hold a separate event. The other part of the reason was that the Subie dyno day had nearly 25 people signed up and there just wasn't room for any more. Since LSE graciously offered to host more than one event, it seemed only sensible to take our random selection of cars and create our own event.

Since we DO have so many different cars, I suspect LSE will want to keep the count a bit lower... so if you want so sign up I suggest you do it ASAP.

I'm thinking that 10 is pushing it, 15 will probably be an absolute maximum because the dyno will have to be reconfigured for so many different vehicles.

Josh?

We might be able to squeeze more in if we can group the different drivetrains together. That's why I put the car into the listing when I signed up. I'm glad everyone else followed suit. But yes, Josh can certainly set whatever cap he likes, as it is his facility we're using.

It might make sense to run all RWD, then all FWD and all AWD or something of that sort. That way it should only need a couple of major changes.

You do know you can't have tundra on a lake, right?

Tundra is frozen ground, most often frozen beds of peat moss... rather hard to have a layer of that on top of ice on top of many feet of water, unless you're referring to the floating islands, which I don't think they have on Mille Lacs, mostly further north.

Just another ecology lesson from the group naturalist. ;)

Wow...
Lets call this one at 15 cars.
With another "5" just like over at mnsubaru.

It just gets to be a long day strapping and unstrapping cars. We will go until we drop, I just don't want people sitting around till 8pm waiting to get on the rollers.

Also, we do back up all the cars, but we use different traction bars for different drivetrain configurations...

It's a Dyno Dynamics Dyno...I think stated as the largest capacity in the nation. Quad retarders IIRC. Of course, apples to apples, but DD usually read lower than other dyno figures some may have seen.

We have a very large fan that we use for cooling.
Our dyno is a Dyno Dynamics chassis dyno. I've been told from shane that they read about 11.5% lower than elite's dynojet (2wd cars).

What everyones magic number they're looking for?
At least 1whp more than Larry's RS :p

Oddly, Larry's power mods and mine are practically identical. We haven't actually found any differences yet, other than he's got about 10k more miles on his. We're curious to quantify the difference that his butt dyno detected at the TnT, and that was made apparent by me hitting the rev limiter a lot earlier than him at DCTC/MOWOG6. When I was driving his car, I was too wrapped up in the amazing lack of understeer to notice any difference in power. Apparently, my butt isn't quite as dialed in as his.

I'm gunning for... oh hell, I have no idea what I'm gunning for.

At least 300HP? It's hard to say what it'll do since it's been chipped, underdriven, oversparked and has an intake filter the size of a volleyball.

TO be honest I just don't know what to expect. I've been TOLD that it should spit out 380-400, but I'm not sure that's realistic. So... I'm just looking forward to finding OUT what it will do.

Similar car, a few less mods (and 130 less hp then you are hoping for): http://www.mustangforums.com/m_1402797/tm.htm

Not trying to put your car down, just wasn't sure how you came to expect such high numbers? It is quick getting from work to lunch and back, but not 400hp quick...

Keep in mind that this dyno is Dyno Dynamics, so it reads lower than a Dynojet or other dynos out there. To put things in perspective my 05 Subaru STi with turboback exhaust, professional tune on a 50/50 map of methanol/distilled water put down:
270whp/310wtq. The big power increase was the injection kit, but on other dynos this would have been about 300whp/370wtq give or take. A stock STi puts down about 210whp/210wtq on this dyno (300/300 crank) for comparison sake.

Never dynoed the Sprite (or any car)...

It looks like u guys filled up so I'll be out this time np.Yes there dyno is a bit down from others I've tested on but that is not a bad thing either. My numbers on other dynos have been as high as 346 tq and 326 hp.On there dyno with sick motor this spring ran 311hp and 326 tq not bad just differant. The thing about there dyno is how cheap its is to get runs. Most charge alot more between 75 95 dollars. For the information u get is priceless.Without dyno pulls I would have not found issues with my car on many times.

Scheduled is fine with me, as I would really like to know an approximation of when I will be on the rollers (because I am driving up from Faribault, because there are two other guys already given early slots that I would like to see/compare to, and because I have a scheduling conflict in the afternoon). All in favor of (approximate) scheduled times, and allowing me to go near the front of the group, raise your hand! :D

I'd like to try to get similar drivetrain close together. 30 minutes is plenty of time per car, I know if we get "rolling" and the car's aren't giving us issues, 10-20minutes per car is even alot of time.
Riding along inside the vehicle for datalogging is fine. Everyone signs a "damage/liability waiver" so its your A$$ if something goes bad.
We have coffee but it is a small machine. We grill on dyno days, hopefully the weather will be nice.
See everyone saturday! If you scheduled a timeslot that is fine, but I would like to be out of here by 4-5pm. I would say get here about an hour or so early so if people are missing/etc we can get you in.
Most of the time dynodays have 1/2 show up compared to register :(.

Is there a chance I can get going near Stoooo's cars then? I'll be bringing a AWD car as well, so that would be all of them close together.

the list has me as a 75 mini cooper, but instead i'll be bringing the 06 WRX wagon.

I'd be lucky to hit 212WHP on that dyno. My yellow car was on the same one and got 170WHP/200WTQ. A stock STi got a 207WHP/212WTQ there too. I'd say the numebr s on this aprticualr dyno can read up to 15% lower than other's ive seen. I think its interesting because the same dyno in use at DB in rogers reads much higher.

so only predicting two of us in the 200WHP+ club?

By next year I might be pushing on the MAC whp champion assuming that viper never dynos (going for 300-325 whp)

So its not going to be worthwhile to try to compare previous dyno results from DB to LSEs? :?

nope. they don't read the same, mainly has to do with how the load is calculated, so operator difference can be a big factor there.

dynos wont even be really comparable on different days on the same machine though, its more a tool for tuning and measuring relatives for that particular session.

Huh? They should read very similar. We use atmospheric correction, they use atmospheric correction. I know shane was giving people comparison numbers for known corrections against other dyno's.

huh, a friend of mine said he got some pretty dramatically different numbers on the same tune. I looked aththe sheets and they were about 15% off from one another. I still think that most of the time they arent exactly similar, but yes, you can use multipliers to correct to compare it to other dynos, but its not an exact science, its all approximate.

Well if it is 15% off then 2 things happened. 1)The car broke something.
2)Someone put a correction on his graph, and we don't do that.
