Is MOWOG III still a go? I seem to recall there being a site conflict at Midway for this date.

Good to go! Same place/time/......

But shake the rust off up in St. Cloud this weekend first! Especially all you dorks that think you're going to win a Mazda 6 at the challenge the weekend in between (yup- I'm a dork too).

This is good news. Can you share what happened to get us back on track, so to speak...

That's great news! Saves me a long drive to find an event that weekend.

FWIW - I have no illusions about winning a Mazda 6, I'm just looking forward to beating the crap out of someone else's car for a change! :p

Sigh... why is it that the MAC Autocross schedule so neatly overlaps the SCCA Rallycross schedule so often? I want to do both.

Obvious answer- those wing nuts setting the other schedule didn't bother to contact us first! :D

So now MOWOG 3 is a go at Midway.

What happened to the event that was supposed to kick us off?

Do we have any different restrictions on the time we need to vacate?

If you go to http://www.myautoevents.com/ to register, also try searching for all autocross events within 300 miles of Saint Paul. A couple of events at the MGA Research Center pop up. This site is very nice. The whole place is huge, but the skidpad area used for autocrosses is big all by itself. Some of us Lotus folks ran there last September, and I think we would all agree we wish it was close to home.

The SCCA is not a member of the Met Council. Met Council members do coordinate events so this doesn't happen. I think there is a certain amount of 800lb gorilla going on with the SCCA too. Just my humble opinion.

I think the wrong club has the gorilla suit on! We ALWAYS out-draw SCCA LOL solo events vs. any MAC event....interesting!

It's actually pretty depressing how weak LoL Region is for Solo2. Only 4 total events, ALL of which are in Wisconsin. I'll end up attending twice as many DMVR events as LoL events this year, even though LoL is ostensibly my "home" SCCA region.

In an ideal world, it would be great to see MAC and the SCCA LoL Region work together on Solo2 events. MAC has the grassroots support to keep a multi-event series going. LoL has the SCCA ties to attract out-of-town competitors and eventually get some divisional/national events in Minnesota (assuming a suitable venue can be found, of course!). It may be wishful thinking, but one can always hope.

I think they have had a problem with the fact that our lots are always iffy but maybe thats just me.

The last LOL event I remember with a HUGE turnout was a co-sponsored MAC/LOL event at DCTC several years ago......

The Land 'O Lakes Region of SCCA has been a member of the Met Council since the Met Council was formed. If they are not a member now, when did they drop out?

I was wondering about that myself. They're still listed as an Affiliate on the MAC website.

They pretty much faded out of the picture last season. They haven't had a representative at a Met Council meeting for a long time. When this season started, no one heard from them, to my knowledge.

Basso Presto is about the only Minnesota SCCA club that has continued to be active in Solo competition. They normally have the two-day event at the Fairmont airport in July. Last year, they stopped partnering with LOL for that event, and started partnering with DMVR. They had to cancel the event for this year, however, because the runways are being repaved. But I'm told they fully expect to be back there next year. Fairmont IS a fun place to run.

I hear you on the conflicts with rallycross dates. LOL didn't put out their 2003 schedule until I made an inquiry on the rally-mn group in April. I wanted to try it this year. Although it appears my VW Golf wouldn't be suitable with the lowered springs. And the idea of an additional car for motorsports isn't going to fly to well at home right now either. Oh well, maybe something will work out in the future.
