View Full Version : Co-drive for MOWOG 8?
SmokingTires

I'm in search of a co-drive for MOWOG 8. All of my good tires are dismounted and ready for sale, and a set of all-season tires have gone on my 14's (that previously had the race tires) for daily use. So I do not have anything that would be near worth driving on for the event (I had been setup to co-drive Chris's car, but ended up doing it last weekend).
I am hoping to improve on my current year end PAX placing. I would like to get into a car preped, or near preped for class to run. I'm willing to drive pretty much any competitive car. FWD, RWD, AWD, I'm in if it's prepped.
I'm offering up a co-drive in my Miata next season, fully preped with Koni Shocks and on R's.
Thanks,
-Mike Brausen

No one?
I'll throw in a Blue E-Stock Miata if you buy a set of tires for my car (A set of tires costs $8000) :D
How about a decent PAXing car, competitive or not. Or just one that's fun to drive around cones :)

I'll offer you a drive in my GTI, because I want to see want somebody who has been doing this for awhile can do. But, I'm on all seasons too, so your car is much better prepped as it sits anyway.
Bone stock! Oh yeah!

Ummm... Did you not read my thread at all? I'm on all-seasons that would be no less than horribly disappointing. They wouldn't PAX very well in CS.
I don't really need to be preached to ;)

Originally, I was suppose to be driving Chris Delays car for this event, but Rich couldn't make it last weekend, so I ended up driving Chris's car last weekend instead. I had swapped tires (2 weeks ago) having secured drives for both events, but something came up with Rich and he couldn't make it. So now I am stuck looking for a ride this weekend.

Or drive on your all-season tires......like it's going to kill you.
It's supposed to be 50 degrees on Sunday, so your car won't be at much of a disadvantage, if you run in Street Tire Index. Or are you afraid of getting thumped by Salah, Tyler, Dave B. & Lee? ;)

Sounds like Steve wants to challenge Mike to a drive off. :)
Talk to Chris about Steve's driving style before you let him drive your car.

Mike, you know my Miata is always open for co-drives. It PAXs well in its class and you know the vehicle.
As of now, i'm not signed up for the event but i do plan on making it and even if i don't, you can use the car if you want to.
Let me know.

I'm sure Paul would part with his beloved Fiesta/Festiva for enough $, or he would take a Ariel Atom on partial trade. But you better get it before it gets all stripey.

It's white with rust splotches and needs about $200 of brake parts & the time to do it before it's roadworthy. My plan is to Ice RallyCross it this winter in Lacrosse, maybe even use it as a DD, we'll see. As for selling it, what do you want to pay? ;)

You drive your Miata on all-seasons, and I'll drive mine, and we'll both see how fun it is ;)
I highly doubt at my skill level, I could keep up with either of them on these tires:

I'm not really sure what's so unreasonable about me asking for a co-drive that people find the need to challange it. But no matter, I have a co-drive for the event now.
Alex: Your more than welcome to co-drive my car for an event next year. Driver comparison will help me work on my driving :)

In the cold and at Midway, R's don't have a big advantage. I'll toot my own horn and say that I once paxed 6th at a cold midway event on tires that had a treadwear rating of 600.

Well, including lawn mowers and the snow blower i guess i'm up to 21 right now. Seeing as how i'm 24 years old, i'm a little behind, but not too far!
And just curious, but what about those who own Rx-7's? Rotary's don't have cylinders!
Two rotor rotories are considered six cylinders.

thats wierd I never heard that before. Id consider a 2 rotor a 12 cylinder considering it has the same number of power events per rotation as a 12 cylinder
at least I think I know how rotories work

well rotaries have 3 combustion surfaces per rotor, and the spark timing is equivilant to a 6 cylinder, however it only fires 2 spark plugs instead of 6
3 rotors are like 9, and 4 rotors = 12
not sure how you got 12 out of 2...

well in that case my WRX's have 6 extra cylinders on them each. Then the master cylinder, cylindrical cup holders, clutch cylinder... =]
so this old hunk of junk I got parked in my back yard counts as 9 cylinders then lee?

not sure how you got 12 out of 2...
I'm pretty sure dc2gsrintegra logic is this.
4 strokes fire once for every 2 rotations.
Rotaries fire once per chamber per revolution.
6 chambers for a two rotor.
12 combustion events for every 2 revolutions. ;)
MacDubois
10-13-2006, 12:11 PM
I was under the impression that only being able to count the number of chambers was why people don't buy rotaries...if they count for for 6 a piece, that changes everything.
Personally at 16...sad a v8 and 2 4s
Household is about 78
4 v8s...32
a v6 and flat 6, 12
2 I4s... 8
Vtwin...2
3 parallel twins...6
2 I3s...6
7 singles...7
3 outboards boaty motors... good for 5 I think (yes, they are 1.667 each)
I'm sure I'm missing something, but now I have to go get rotarys...
And thats without owning gas power chainsaws/weed wackers/blenders
weidnerpaul
10-13-2006, 01:36 PM
The Joe Soucheray Internal Combustion Cylinder Index...
No brake cylinders or "Fires per" nonsense and (my opinion) since each rotary has one spot that always fires a two rotor is more like a 2 cylinder as those are the ones that fire, the others have no combustion...

So my my RD400 2stroke twin cylinder is actually a 4 cylinder ;)
A rotor has three sides so a two rotor motor has six.
2 x 3 = 6

Hey Lee, how do you figure combustion events in a 914?
(opening the door for a smart remark...)
Take a random number- divide by 4, multiply by the competency of the mechanic who last rebuilt the engine (.05 if the engine has not been rebuilt) and you have the probability of a combustion event in the engine of a 914. If you are just talking about in the car- well then, maybe 1 out of 2, 1 out of 4 if well maintained.
