Wanna turn some wrenches on an Evo in a nice heated shop this Saturday?
You are cordially invited to join us for a
Crossmember Installation Party
This Saturday, November 25th
Pizza, beer, wine, and soda will be served at noon
at the home of my good friend Steve
729 Paul Burch Drive
Hudson, Wisconsin
Just 30 minutes from Minneapolis: I 94 East into Wisconsin. Four miles past the border, take the Hwy 12/County U Exit #4 and turn left onto Hwy 12, heading over I 94. After 1.5 miles turn right at the light to stay on Hwy 12. After one mile, turn left onto Labarge Road. After the stop sign, continue straight on Labarge and then left onto Paul Burch Drive. Steve’s place is the first one on the left with the HUGE garage across from the house.
Steve’s garage is actually a 48’ x 40’ heated shop with an electric lift and a full compliment of professional automotive tools. He also has GT4 with a great steering wheel and pedal set up if you want to play.
I’ll try to get everything disassembled before lunch. The goal is to get the install done before 4:00pm so I can get her aligned and drive on the Turkey Run the next day. Any help will be appreciated!
Please reply if you're coming so I know how much beer and pizza to bring.
Call me at 612-237-1883 if you like.

Sure you can, you just need one of those dummies people use to get into the carpool lane. :D

Long story. Recently discovered damage caused by previous owner hitting a curb. His dealer replaced the lower control arm but not the crossmember, now both need to be replaced. CarFax report did NOT include this repair, even though it was done through insurance, at a Mitsu dealer, with the VIN listed. DON'T TRUST CARFAX!

Don't they have a guarantee? Maybe too late now, but I heard a "We will buy your car if we are wrong" kind of deal. Check it out just in case. Maybe they will at least offer some hush money. :)
Giood luck...sorry I can't make it, I'm still in the woods trying to reduce the number of car/deer accidents in our state. ;)

I didn't purchase the CarFax report directly. A friend at a car dealership got it for me with their discount. For what it's worth, the CarFax report on my RSX didn't mention the two times it was rear-ended and had to have the bumper replaced. Both times the police were called, and both times it was reported to insurance and the work was done at a licensed shop that reports the VIN. I got a CarFax from two different sources for my RSX. Both reports stopped at 24,000 miles, even though the car had 81,000 miles and both rear-enders happened sometime after 24,000. Maybe I just have a CarFax curse!
Of course I mentioned the two accidents to all potential buyers, as well as the fact that I tracked and autocrossed the car. It was a great car and I had nothing to hide.
So after two blatantly incorrect reports, I have concluded that CarFax cannot be trusted.
While admittedly hijacking my own thread, I would like to hear from anyone who actually got CarFax to buy their car back after an incorrect report was revealed. I'm betting there are some nearly impossible hoops to jump through.
By the way, we'll be out in the woods on Sunday, with the likelihood of INCREASING the number of deer/car accidents as we drive some fantastic roads. We saw several deer cleverly avoiding you guys in blaze orange last weekend.

Well, its not that carfax can't be trusted, but they can't be expected to know everything either. If there is an accident that doesn't report to the car's insurance then carfax probably has know way of knowing it ever occurred.

Well, as I said in the post, both of the RSX accidents WERE reported to the police and to insurance, so CarFax should have picked them up, but didn't.
The Evo curb incident was also reported to insurance, and repaired at a Mitsu dealer (they faxed me the paperwork) but CarFax missed that one too.
I stand by my original statement that CarFax can't be trusted.

^^^ I believe the carfax guarantee only applies to the title. ie, not totaled, rebuilt, flooded, etc.

Well, I did my part. Just shot a 10 point, 20" spread genuine Wisconsin buck. He won't be messing up any cars any time soon.

Somewhere I heard the damage has to be over some threshold (rumored to be $3k) before it will show up in Carfax. I've been trying to confirm this, but haven't found any details.
