Steve,

Do you have an educated guess as to when the Met Council dates might be posted? Thanks.

If the meeting minutes were still being posted, you'd know why. I'm sure one of the club officers will chime in with the official party line. I think it was mostly down to safety concerns and public relations.

I was looking forward to doing the Test n Tune at DCTC... But it the same weekend as the National Tour in Milwaukee... I assume a good 30 uf us will make that trip... Might want to reconsider that date... OH, I see one on the 19th of August too...

Here's the Milwaukee SCCA schedule too... Click Solo II at the top, then the 07 schedule...

I'm not too worried about having one Test & Tune opposite a National Tour event. We have plenty of members to fill a limited-entry event.

Glad you like the schedule. 8)

Registration for most events will open 30 days in advance. Registration for the Novice Schools and Evolution Schools will open a bit sooner. We won't know exactly how much sooner, until some MyAutoEvents upgrades are completed.

Thanks, Darryl. I had the WAI info already, but I couldn't get to the SCCA schedule until you posted the link. (I had no idea I was so inept with computers.)

I was hoping for more two-day events in Milwaukee this year, but I can understand why they wouldn't be all that popular with the locals.

They have 4 weekend events listed... But the Chicago region will have a few events at Miller Park too... I think those events will fall on a Saturday of a WAI or SCCA event making yet another weekend event... Maybe 6 weekend events total...

I'm sure KC will have a couple too, including a couple weeked events at Heartland Park...

Back to our schedule... Nice overall MET council schedule... Full season right here in MN and just over the border... Yep, if you like DCTC you'll get your fill...

Well done guys/gals...

Why is Evolution always at Midway?

Evolution has certain course requirements. The course is pre-designed and must fit into an approriately shaped space. Midway is the only place we can find that can accomodate it.

I wish I could share your enthuseasm. This is in no way a slight to anyone...you guys worked your butts off getting this schedule set and I appreciate it very much. I'm just extremely disappointed that we are a DCTC club again.

Yes, I understand....The problem is lack of sites, not lack of effort or willingness on anyones part. I can't make it clear enough that I'm not at all unhappy with the club or anyone in it...just the whole site thing. I will bias my events elsewhere, and will probably not make the minimum number of events for like the 5th year running. Sucks to not pick up any hardware at the end of the season because you didn't do enough events to qualify. (Well, it's not that big a deal, but you get the idea.) :)

I guess I'll "let" Randy take the top Pax driver of the year thing. ;) ;)

I think DCTC is the best option we have at the moment. VF surface is horrible and everything else is to small. I'm not sure why Central is a safety issue since I have not been back in a few years, but maybe we were just a hair aggresive there.

I like DCTC a lot. It's like having a 3D site, whereas Midway and Valley Fair are a bit two dimensional. As a spectator, I really like being able to see the whole course at the flatter sites, but DCTC is such a blast to drive on. Then again, I'm still a n00b, so what do I know ?

DCTC did get a little old last summer, esp. with the COM events all stacked up there toward the end of the season. It will just be a challenge to come up with different ways to use it.

Losing Valleyfair as the "finale" is too bad, I really enjoy that site, despite the pavement. Their calendar doesn't show them being open in October this year, is that just something they decide later in the season?

Too many hard objects (walls, fences, bridge supports, light poles) too close to the driving lines. There's simply no way to design a reasonable autox course at Central that adheres to generally accepted course safety guidelines. In addition, there were some noise complaints last year that could have become a long-term PR issue with the City of St. Paul.

Darryl

Looks like we need to start a new thread… I’m not a fan of DCTC because you don’t learn the things you do on a wide open parking lot… Looking ahead doesn’t seem to come into play as much… Harder to look ahead 3 of 4 elements… Not as many line choices and the runs are longer then they need to be… But it better then 8 events at Midway… And much better then nothing local at all…

Yes Pat, we need to continue our search… A few have but without success…

I can see the noise being a problem. It was central not the best site for safety, but I have autox'd on worse sites and felt safe. The options were very limited at the site.

The thing I have to be careful about is giving the impression I don't like DCTC. I actually enjoy it quite a bit. Like Randy said, it's a great surface, and it *is* fun. I've never not had fun there, put it that way.

I guess I am a parking lot guy. That's what I started on and that's what the big events are run on. I'm glad we have a nice full schedule, and it will be a great season. Given any conflicts though, I'll be on a parking lot if possible.

02-02-2007, 02:01 PM
I think the Nationals bound guys are more Parking Lot oriented
Me included.....DCTC ,being similar to a road course, guides you around the course too easily....also runoff isn't as good as a PL
it tends to favor cars with HP too(hill climbs)
but its still Ok with me

The Chicago Region SCCA schedule is up and they have just one Miller Park event listed, July 28, making one more two-day event at Miller Park.

Two-day events at Miller Park (not counting the WAI driver's school):

July 7-8, National Tour
July 28-29, Chicago and Milwaukee Regions
Aug 11-12, WAI
Sep 8-9, Milwaukee Region
