Still plenty of TBA's but....
The DMVR scored the Adventureland amusement park parking lot!
It's reported to be concrete and comparable in size to Waterloo.

Chris,
Do you know anything about the Lost Island Waterpark site listed for several Iowa Region events?
Altoona is almost as far as Milwaukee for me....

I've not been there myself. I've heard that's it's about half the size of Waterloo.

Yep, asphalt lot about half the size of greyhound park, a little over 200,000 SF compared to the 400,000 sf at greyhound, but I should have it set up so we can use their second 80,000 sf lot for paddock, so no parking on gravel :)
BTW, it's just the two first event weekends, after that they're open for business.

Aaron,
Have you had a chance to scope out the Iowa Speedway site in Newton?

Interesting, I went there the other day and it was much different (but still looked like valid 2007 dates). They must still be figuring things out...
The earliest date is March 18th at Sailorville - that's pretty bold! I guess I'll have to check the weather report... I also will place the April Waterloo events on the "maybe" list... especially the T&T on April 1st.

Just wait till Milwaukee in April :) Matt and I should be hitting the first event at Miller Park.

The two years I've gone to the mid-march Saylorville event, it's been chilly, but no snow luckily. Weren't you there last year, Chris?

Yea. As I recall it was too warm for jackets. I usually hit the season opener there. Most times, the weather's pretty decent. It's far enough south to get out of the Minnesota weather patterns.

I will probably hit that event too, as long as it's not RAINING SIDEWAYS like it was last year. That's a lesson I learned very well... the 4-5 hour drive (each way) is not worth it for 6 minutes of autocrossing in standing water.

Yes, it was my first Autocross event in the Midwest! It actually wasn't too bad... about 50 degrees but the wind was whipping up off that water pretty good, which made it pretty chilly to stand there on course...

It is if your preping for possible rain at Nationals :) That event is actually one of my favorite autocross memories. I spun my MR2, it was a blast! And then Matt and I can see how the car is in rain on sport tires.

Yeah good point. I had a bad experience for other reasons... you will probably remember I only walked the course once, because I had to run to Wal-Mart to drop off my street tire for repair (with the big nail in it)..
needless to say I have very UNfond memories of that event...
