There's lots of chatter about Valley Fair being the first event again this year, has this been set in stone yet? What date, 1st weekend of May as always?

Also, there was some rumoring going on at the awards party about getting Cantebury (sp?) back this summer too. Any truth to that?

I'm not a huge fan of VF, but remember Cantebury as being pretty awesome. Lord knows what 9 years has done to it, but it was pretty sweet a decade ago.

Don't worry, the details should all be in the minutes. We do still post minutes, right ?

That was Paul's job so I'm assuming (hoping?) someone will step in to cover for him until a replacement can be elected (that's this month, right?)

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend this month.

I don't believe Lee has posted one. However, the major items I'm aware of include:

1. Nomination & election of a new Board Member to fill the vacancy created by Paul's passing.

2. Finalize 2008 Event Schedule. (and yes, we will be at Canterbury for 2 days this year).

3. Review & vote on Met Council rule change proposals.

I'm still stuck at the office (Minneapolis) so I might actually swing by for the first time.

TreVina is in the basement of Valentino's nightclub, correct?

Yes. It is the street level on the Concord side.

We don't get the north overflow lot. I don't know if your caveat applies to the other lots.

Randy,

We're in the main lot, which didn't appear to be very dirty/gritty. However, we'll take a look at the site 30 days prior to our sceduled Oct 4/5 weekend, and arrange a sweeper if the lot appears to need it.

Steve, getting OT here, but did you get any measurements/survey done of the site? something we could create a template for course design from? I can do the cadd work if you need someon. We have lots of time...just wondering.

EDIT: I just Google Earth'ed it, and holy pavement Batman! Do we get it all? I think there's enough room to design a good Evo .....ah, I mean......RX8 course!

Pat,

We probably have about 3/4ths of the main lot. The southern portion towards the card club entrance is the space we will not have.

Darryl already volunteered to survey the lot with me and input it into AutoCAD. We'll wait until the snow melts, as there a number of big snow piles in the way, at present. We'll document all the poles, drains, entrances, etc.

As Larry indicated, we get approx. 75% of the main lot. The Northern area of the lot will be where we locate paddock & grid. The area is already segmented by permanent pylons into one large triangular area that will make a generous paddock, and one long, relatively skinny area that will be perfect for two long grids capable of handling 160+ cars.

The main course area looks similar to Miller Park, without the medians. The surface has quite a few cracks, but no spiderwebbing. It appears to be in far better condition than Valleyfair, so we shouldn't have many concerns about routing around bad sections of pavement.

One other site note - Canterbury will shut down the road that runs between the grandstand and parking lot during events. This means we'll have an easy, traffic-free path from the course to the back of the grid.

-Steve

p.s. EVERY course is a good course for an XP Miata. ;)

Here's an aerial image of Canterbury Park, with outlines of the areas we will use for events. The course area is roughly 1000' x 600-700'. For reference, the area used for courses at Miller Park is approx. 900' x 600'.
