What a great schedule. Two events each at Valleyfair, Canterbury and CVTC! Yeah! Also Evo School at CVTC is a big plus, and only running three at DCTC is an improvement. Whittle that down to one or two and it would be even better (imho).

Thanks to all who made this possible, especially getting back into Canterbury.

Great looking schedule! Already tire shopping and ready to go.... and it is only feb! :D

I have been excited to run at Canterbury since all the talk about it last season. Should be a good place to run!

What's the difference between phase 1+2 and the challenge school?

Basically, Challenge School is focused on applying what you learned in Phase 1/2 in a real-life autocross event setting. For part of the course, you go head-to-head against the instructors in your car.

On-line registration for events is done on MyAutoEvents.com (http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmMain.Show) Registration will open 30 days prior to the event - except for the Novice Schools, which will open further in advance.

(I realize it would probably be preferred, just wondering if Phase I would be enough.)

So what is done at the Jul 13 Members-Only Test & Tune, Dakota County Tech College, Rosemount. Is this just for the engine or suspension as well?

Could a guy in a sts2 Naturally Aspirated miata benefit from this? Or is it more geared towards turbo guys.

They set up a couple of simple courses. Then you get a bunch of runs to experiment with chassis setup or work on your driving. It isn't really an engine tuning event.

That's cool.

I'd like to see how I like running with out a rear bar.

At the Test and Tune's you may be limited to only say 30-45 runs on two different courses so make sure you have a clear plan of what you need to work on :)

Which lot will we be using at Canterbury if I may ask? Surely not our old hunting grounds which as I understand are currently fenced off and somewhat worse for wear.

Watched an autox event there for the first time in the early-mid '90s...
It'll be fun for me to actually run there.

I'd like to know this as well, otherwise I'll try to go to KC for the Evo 2 school there.

Evo's website for phase 2 explicitly states you need to have taken phase 1, they're not as clear about the challenge school.

Phase 1 will be an absolute pre-requisite. We can waive the Phase 2 requirement on an individual case basis, based on driver experience level. The bottom line is that Challenge School is intended for experienced autocrossers. Less experienced drivers may find the class a bit overwhelming/intimidating.

The Evolution classes will open for registration closer to 60 days in advance. One note - registration for Evo Schools will be via mail ONLY. We never make money on the Evo Schools, and eliminating the MAE/Paypal charges will allow us to keep the entry fees as low as possible.

I've used the TnT events in the past to work on the driver more than the car. When Tvan jumped in my car without having driven it before, and knocked a full second off my best time so far that day, with my not inconsiderable weight tagging along for the ride, I knew the weakest link was me.

That was your "Lance Reventlow moment", eh?

I really never had a Lance Reventlow moment. I knew pretty-much right away in 1968 that I didn't have the right stuff. I've had a lot of fun in this sport anyway. I can still show the new guys something now and again. Beat Ivan at the 2006 Evolution School. ;) Couldn't do it now...

I was thinking about asking this. I'm glad you guys provide so many chances to tighten the nut behind the wheel.

During my first season of alpine ski racing they gave me no opportunities to practice, so my first time down the course was also my first race. Needless to say progress is slow. I wish they would keep the gates up a little while after the race so I could practice some more.

Also, I've been looking through many of your flicker accounts and I saw someone with and E30 M3! I'd love to go on a ride with him during a practice (during tuning or school?) run if he is ok with that.

Yes, your car loves me. She liked to be warned well in advance of what was about to happen. Once we came to that understanding, she was much more willing to accept what I asked of her... and I began to trust what she was able to give me.

Yep, perfect example of using an event like that to break bad habits. Several months of r-compound use had masked some fundamental driving mistakes I was making. Phil was smooth as usual, and performed quite well.

Have you been seeing my car behind my back ? You absolute rotter ! I challenge you to a Spite & Malice duel. Your house, tomorrow night. Be there, or else.

Other than that, my goals for the year are to figure out how this whole smoothness thing works, and to try and figure out how Ivan takes slaloms digitally, as opposed to my current, somewhat leisurely, analogue method.

lol... no the relationship was fleeting, that all happened in one run.

And digital is right... I'm either on or off, not much middle ground.

I hope the Canterbury lots are up to the challenge. Another valleyfair size lot is great but if it breaks up like valleyfair that would be a bummer. It will also be the return to my autocross beginning.(Feeling like the old gladiator in the gladiator movie).
