Looks like you have a lot of F-Bodies for that day.

You are planning to run the new track or big track?

You are planning to run the new track or big track?

I typically get a lot of F-bodies because I have a couple of them and know a bunch of people that have them. I usually bring my Camaro & my Honda (no extra charge for a 2nd car by the way. You just have to find a way to get it up there.)

We'll run the long track for this one since the new track won't be ready for awhile. It probably won't be ready until later in the summer since they weren't able to lay the last layer of ashpalt before winter. So the timing on that track will depend on weather this spring and how soon they can get it layed down. Then it has to sit unused for a number of months before they can have any cars running on it. I do plan to put something together on that new track as well but of course I can't set a date yet.

Cool. I'm excited to get out on the new track.

I am planning on doing the Suburban Corvette event the weekend before or else I would join you. Thanks again for putting these together. I hope to catch you later in the year.

This is run in conjunction with BIR Performance Driving School. They bought the driving school from Donnybrooke Motorsports awhile ago. Gary Curtis is the guy in charge & he really does a great job. Very good instruction for the new guys & lots of track time.

This is going to be fun, I can't wait!

One question, will it matter if I end up bringing a different car, I registered my 1991 Saab 9000, but it might end up that one of my other cars is more set-up by the time June 2nd rolls around (as the '91 is quite work in progress).

No worries about that. You just need to be sure that you go through the Tech Sheet and have everything in safe working order.

I would think rain at BIR wouldn't be nearly as scary on the new short course that bypasses the slick-as-ice dragstrip area.

The current forecast shows rain on Monday.

Is this a rain or shine event or ?

Will be rain or shine unless it is looking like an all day steady rain. In that case it is possible that we will schedule another day. That isn't very typical and usually we can at least get part of a day in without a wet track. Last fall we drove in the rain and it was a lot of fun. As long as everyone uses some common sense (especially on the front straight), it is fine in a light rain.

And yes, once the shorter track is ready to go it will be great in the rain. We hope to be having another event which will be on the new track later in the summer.

There may be 1 spot left if anyone is interested. Sign up on the waiting list & I'll let you know if it opens up.

Yeah,
SlowSwede was following the GT with camera rolling. No damage to the GT, but probably a few heartbeats skipped. Also the vid seems to imply that it was chasing down an EVO X, but that might not be the case depending on how much video editing there was.

Sorry to say that there was some damage to the GT. The front bumper was cracked and some relatively minor scrapes on the front driver's side corner from a cone. Of course under the circumstances that is relatively minor and cars/parts can be replaced. Nobody was injured and that of course is the primary concern anytime something like this happens.

Todd, I'll second what SlowSwede said, it was a blast. Having never been to BIR I was a bit intimidated, but I was very happy to have a few people ride along who were familiar with the course.

I had never driven my 9000 anywhere near the level that I drove it yesterday, it was really fun. A few things made me nervous such as the hood looking like it was made of rubber at 135+ mph, and noticing that after each run set the plastic front bumper under-tray kept unclipping itself!

I'm happy to hear that there was not much more damage than that. My fear while watching the spin was that he would hit the dirt with more speed. I'm glad he lost quite a bit of momentum from spinning on the pavement. I was definitely frightening to watch!
