This is a call for volunteers interested in serving as Event Masters and/or Course Designers for 2007 MAC Events. I'd like to have these key volunteer positions lined up for all events in the next 30 days. Below is a list of Events, with designated Event Masters & Course Designers noted, in cases where volunteers have already stepped forward. Any spots shown in red still need to be filled/confirmed. Please note, the Event Master and Course Designer DO NOT need to be the same person.

Members who wish to work as co-EM's are encouraged to do so. In such cases, I will ask that one person be officially designated as Event Master and the other as Chief of Course/Course Designer.

Members who haven't been an Event Master before, but want to learn the ropes, are encouraged to volunteer as an Assistant EM. If you don't have an experienced member lined up to team with, just let me know you're interested, and I'll see what I can do to match you up with someone.

Note: Jonathan Grothe & Mark Fitzpatrick get first pick of openings, as they have already expressed an interest in helping out for '08.

Note #2: In general, the EM positions are the highest priority to fill. In some cases, we may defer selection of other assignments, pending identification of EM's.

10/6-/10/7 appear to be a Monday and Tuesday on the SCCA Calender.

You and Pat always take the course design for the good events :p

I can tenatively Assistant EM M1 and M2 (I have to confirm the days off with the boss next week).

I'll post up others my hats in for when I can confirm. If I can get mentioned to the CVSCC group for course design on one of their events that would be great!

Actually, they were 2007 dates, which have now been corrected. :p

I'd re-phrase that to "the most difficult events". Pat and I have been doing Valleyfair for a few years now, and have a very good handle on the process required to ensure the course and event are successful. For the first year on the main lot at Canterbury, Pat and I will be spending considerable time determining how best to utilize the site. Darryl Wrolson will also be helping create an accurate CAD basemap. Our efforts should make it easier for someone else to design courses for Canterbury in the future.

Interest noted.

For CVSCC, Pat and I have been providing them with dimensioned plans, so the local club can do considerable pre-placement in advance. Do you have a CAD package with dimensioning capabilities?

By Dimensioning (pardon my know lesser knowledge of computer terms) accurate measurement of distance and spare on the site map? I'm not sure if the Visio program I was using last year has it. I could either use one of Pat's previous CAD maps (which I was at) to base my distances off of or I could acquire a different program.

I understand the VF situation even more because it is the first really big event of the year. Canterbury as well being the first use in a while. Although I would have no problem helping out where needed on the project.

Yes, Visio does dimensioning. If you check out the sample course maps for CVTC, there's a map from the 09/30/07 event that was generated with Visio.

Thank you, that was very kind.

If you can't fill it I'll EM MOWOG 3 as well.

Okay, I made a number of updates, based on those who have volunteered.

Sean, I went with Dave Bahl's package deal for MOWOG 3, so I just have you listed for MOWOG 4 Assistant EM at this point. For your first EM gig, you may want to try MOWOG 6 or one of the Test & Tunes - they're a bit less hectic for a new EM.

Mark, I put you down for everything you requested. However, I may let someone else do course design for one of the MOWOG's, if an EM/designer team volunteers.

Thanks!

-Steve

Sounds good to me. I wish I could EM at 6, but I will probably have to be at work so I don't want to volunteer and then have to back out.

Not sure what you're referring to - we don't have an event on those dates.

Hey folks, we still have a few spots to fill. I'd really like to get these positions filled early, so I don't have to spend time during the season begging for people to run events.

Folks,

We're still lacking EM's for 4 events - including the next two events. I really need some experienced members to step up and fill these positions. With the great group of volunteers in our club, the EM position isn't nearly the burden it used to be. I'd really like to see some volunteers who aren't already running an event this year. Spreading the load helps keep us from burning out the Club's core volunteers.

-Steve

p.s. If these jobs aren't filled in the next week, I'm going to start "volunteering" people. ;)

Folks, I have agreed to EM Mowog 4 from the drivers meeting onward (I'll being doing course in the morning) but if someone else wants to step up instead that will keep me from running too ragged all day. Given my current health issues any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a bunch

Since no one else has stepped forward, I'm going to act as EM for the 09/07 Test 'n Tune. Hopefully, we're training in enough new EM candidates that filling EM openings will be less difficult next year.
