It’s getting close folks, hope everyone is excited! A couple of last minute reminders:
Please be prompt. We will start at 9:00 sharp. Allow a few minutes to get signed in.
Class materials will be provided…maybe bring a pen if you’re a note taker.
Please do not park in the parking lot in front of the building. We need to keep that open for car tech. There is side street parking around the building.
Please have your car fairly ready. While it doesn’t need to be “competition ready”, have it emptied out of the old McDonalds bags and stuff, trunk emptied,… Make sure you have a battery hold down in good shape.
If you have a helmet, please bring it for a tech sticker.
Bring any minor waivers is necessary.
We will have some donuts in the morning, will break from class at around 10:20 for a 20 minute tech demonstration, and will finish the class at around noon.
Once class is out, you will all line your cars up for tech inspection. Make sure to let us know if you need to make arrangement to tech your car on Sunday morning.
We’ll let you know everything else you need to know about Sunday in the class.
We will also be having an informal DIY Alignment Clinic sometime between 2:30 and 3:00 PM start time at Jeff the Alignments Guy’s shop in Bloomington. Maps will be provided. Your welcome to join us…it’s usually a real informal, fun gathering. Bring your own frosty “refreshments” if desired. There will be a grill there I think too, if you want to bring something to toss on it. Lots of bench racing, good company, maybe an autocrossing story or two from the old dogs.
Please let me know if you have any questions...I look forward to seeing everyone there!!

Skogmo Room, according to the event details.

Yup, Skogmo. It's across the street from the Main Building, just to the East I think. Has a large garage door to the left of the Main entrance door. The room is immediateoly inside the main entrance...can't miss it! We'll try to put up signs.
Looking East, the red box indicates where the class is held.

Thanks for the Map Jess, I'll pass it along to my girlfriend and her dad who will be attending the class.
Pat - My Girlfriend (Lynn) would like to arrange to have her car (2002 GTI) tech'd on Sunday so that she can carpool with her dad to save a little gas money (plus I'm still using the GTI while my Civic is on stands). Her dad will be bringing his Miata to get tech'd saturday.
Is there someone else I should be sharing this with?
thanks

Just mention it Saturday when we're teching. Not a problem!

Ok, just wanted to make sure.
Another note. Originally her dad was going to co-drive the GTI with her and he registered with the number 373 (her number is 337) but since he picked up the miata he would like to use the other numbers that he reserved (316). I edited his registration on MAE today. Will I need to let anyone know about that or will MAE automatically send the notice to the registrar?

I'll take care of it.
Yes, you must let us know. We don't get an automatic notice that someone is fiddling with the numbers. Thanks for bringing it up.

Just to reitereate for all students:
We will be proceeding with the school unless there is a ground cover of snow that looks like it won't go away. Your best bet is to make the trip even if you see a few flakes Sunday morning. We've run in snow before...will again. Sounds like any snow we do get will not stick and it will just be wet on the surface. Pefect autocrossing conditions!!!
Seriously, you may learn even more about smoothness and speed control in the wet than you will on dry. See you all on Saturday!

I can't agree with this more. Yes, wet conditions mean that your lap times will be slower. But since this is a learning experience, times are not what is important.
What is important is learning proper autocross driving skills and techniques, and many of those techniques are actually EASIER to teach and learn in low-traction conditions.
C'mon out! The water's fine. :D

Didn't we have both rain and sun last year ? Absolutely the best of both worlds. It was like having two schools on the same day.

Wet? WIMP! Wet is no biggie- you'll likely learn more, since the "red mist" will be urging you to "GO FOR IT" and the light rain mist will reel you in a little. I'll shortly be in the garage swapping Nancy's Miata tires from the 615's to her daily driver all seasons. Come and play. It'll be a great day either way.

Dave, as long as there's no deep standing water, I'd leave the 615s on. (but you're the pro here, not me)

That is correct.
We don't drive on Saturday, right? I don't think my tires will be safe to drive 70 miles in wet slush on Saturday... thinking of teching on Sunday if that's okay.

Wow Dave, this Miata-ness has really gotten to you. Certainly not the same guy who would drive 5 hours one way in a car without heat on 215's that were well below the wear bars just to drive fast. Another vote for leaving the 615's on :rockon

One, Kristopher Clewell, will not be attending.
He just posted on Eurowerks.org that he can't make it this weekend.
